You use dyes? Thats awesome!
Not so good at that sort of thing myself, but I have heard of using coffee as a sort of brown dye/paint. I've sceen a few pieces and they are very beautiful, though I cannot remember where anymore...
As for the Hawaiian coffee and mug size, its true! (ehehehe...)
