Description A Gold Medal Apocalypse

As young as I am I've seen and experienced several apocalypses. I've never believed any of these apocalypses to be true, but I have always fantasized living in a post apocalyptic world where everyone must start over and things become so radically different.

The Mayan Calendar Apocalypse: We all just finished this long predicted one that was debunked over and over again. I'm so glad it is long over now. People are finally done talking about it.

The Rapture, May 2011: This is the one by some christian fundamentalist group that put billboards all over the country claiming the end was near. That day went with out a hitch. Then the same old "we miscalculated excuse" happened and it was post-poned until Oct. 21, 2011. Nothing happened that day either.

The Black Hole/Large Hadron Collider Apocalypse: Well, the LHC was switched on in 2008. Nothing happened, except for science! And has been shut on and off several times since then.

Y2K, 2000: This one was a real treat as a kid. I remember people stocking up on canned food and bottled water for months ahead of time. My dad even bought a generator. The only thing that happened is that my Math Blaster game on my windows 95 computer had the high scores reset to the 1900's instead of 2000.

I truly wonder what the world would be like if any of these apocalypses would have happened. I imagine that if an apocalypse did occur it would have to be a gold medal apocalypse; something that is truly amazing that we would have never expected. I would hope that the real apocalypse would truly wow me.

I told you my apocalypse stories, do you have an apocalypse story?

I really like the ominous feel of this - an important warning of how fragile our supposedly secure little planet is. I've lost count of how many potential ends of the world have come and gone in my lifetime. The first one was in the 1960s and I remember being scared walking home from school that the world would actually end...The only true taste of apocalypse I've had was hurricane Sandy. It tasted like crap and I'm more determined than ever to protect our planet and prevent anything like this ever happening again...

Good plan! I was really very lucky - no damage to my house and no one hurt. But we were without power for 10 days - an endless, timeless space of time with no end in sight and a bizarre post apocalyptic feeling everywhere - trees down all over, huge lines at the gas station, traffic lights not working, etc. It was surreal... I was so grateful my parents had power and could take us all in until the lights (and the heat!) came back on again...Their neighborhood was a little oasis of normal in the midst of all the chaos...

I'm just really glad it's over and hope we as a human race wises up about climate change. I don't want to go through anything like that again, and I was totally one of the lucky ones since I still have my home, my family, our cars, etc.

I had a dream ...now a long time ago...
but the image keeps returning ...
i had 4 apocalypses ..dream after a dream ...
and only the last one was lucid...
i remember saying "Get it over with already"

Real apocalypse would suck real bad...i mean post-apocalyptic world...
no toilets...
food shortage.... not enough animals to eat ...at least in residential areas...
cannibalism would be widespread..no internet ...there would be small networks of data here and there..but the main infrastructure would colapse..

My country was bombed back in 99 by NATO ...anyhow ..i remember my friend(from the neighbourhood) telling me that as soon as bomb fall ...there will be chaos ..and he will run into the swatch store and steal watches.. I laughed cause it sounded so stupid (how much of a retard you need to be to go and rob a store in the middle of a bombing)...anyway i guess he was kidding or something (fantasy)....
the day when the first bombs fell .. the store owner cleared out the window.......and of course..during the bombing..nothing was crazy..there was no chaos..durin the first day I even went to school...

it kinda bonded people together in strange fucked up way...

Conclusion...no one knows what would really happen..but i suppose even in the most horrific scenarios ..people would still be human...

Hahha, yeah a real apocalypse would be very very bad. But I kind of like the idea of starting over, ya know?

That is an incredible story. The human race is definitely a strange species. People go about their lives in blissful ignorance to the fact that humanity could effectively be annihilated by nuclear warfare. I don't mean to say I live under the constant fear that this is going to happen, because that's rather unproductive, but it is unfathomable to me that we are capable of our own extermination.
