Description Tried to do a more modern AK that still says "bad guy." Didn't really want to go the "tactical AK" route, since that's really common and easy (though awesome). Mostly used existing parts, then just spent time changing to fit together the way I wanted, and also look a bit more custom. Top two stocks are my design to match the look of the rest of the gun, bottom one ran out of time so it's just an M249 stock.

Hope you like it!

*Note* - Firearm enthusiasts, my guns are designed with an inclination of form > function, more like what you would see in a modern-day FPS. I take some liberties at points, but I try to keep it as real as possible. Feel free to point out any major errors I have made!

Pretty amazing actually, the gun looks really awesome and the small details really piece it together, from the grit on it, to the accessories like the extension on the safety which allows you to grab it with your forefinger or thumb without taking your hand off the grip and having to readjust your trigger, the stocks being unique but very practical in their function (folding and adjustable, like a SAW or sniper etc.), and the different muzzle-break/flash suppressor options. Your design has a lot of practical design elements to it that actually improve the way the weapon functions, such as a carrying handle or picatinny rail, without dramatic changes to the basic Ak-47 design, and still managing to make it look pretty bad-ass.Β

You even added a little scratch mark near the gas tube and safety, which is a hilarious flourish as nearly all ak's paint or coating ends up scraping off when you repeatedly take it on and off. The gun looks used or worn, and it isn't just heaped on willy-nilly but is done in areas where the weapon would start to wear out realistically.

The only thing I'd say is wrong that you have it chambered in 7.62mm x 51mm NATO although the magazine size would indicate it's only in 7.62mm x 39mm. At half an inch longer the magazines look way fatter than that of an AK mag, but it's relatively small critique. Overall I like the idea of chambering it in the 7.62mm x 51mm NATO anyways, and in that respect it could be more like a galil.Β

Very nice rifle . This reminds me of my game where futuristic and modernizes AK rifle was the standard weapon of EU-Russia coalition . Even through it was not as futuristic as the weapons of other factions it was not even less deadly . On the contrary . The reliability , simplicity and powerful bullet were outmatching the other rifles , which were vulnerable to weather conditions , they had uneasy maintenance and so on .

That should be 7.62x39. 7.62x51 NATO is to big for AK magazines.

My friend , bigger does not mean better . You know 5,45 to AK-74 even through has a lower caliber than AK 47 and M16 deals much moreΒ grievous wounds than 7,62 and 5,56 . That's because of the unique bullet construction Β . Check this on wikipedia .Β

he just stated that the 7,62X51 is too big to fit what seems to be a standard SK pattern Mag. he implied the difference in sizes, not bullet lethality

I'd say the 5,45x39mm round would make more sens for the shape of the mag, and for tactical purposes. 7,62x51mm or .308 it's way too much rounds to be used by undisciplined militias.

Wow, these look really nice.Β
There's one thing about them that wouldn't work, the dust cover goes over the area that the selector plate moves in, so it doesn't get pointed straight up, which would cause the rifle to fire if it's already been cocked.

Though you could probably get away by saying: "There a plate in the trigger group that is stationary, and doesn't allow this."

Keep up the good work!
Cheers.

As a former soldier in an Eastern block army, I had an AK 47 of the series 72. I really like your design of the squad support variant. What I always missed with the AK 47 is a handle on top to hold it in your hand while running. The handhold part between the magazine and the barrel doesn't allow you to hold the gun in a balanced way. So, you simply grab it somewhere else. Your design may eliminate that shortcoming.
