Yeah, he is. One was in a freak skiing accident. He fell and got broadsided by another skier. When he got home he realized that he was covered in blood, and thought that someone must have been hurt pretty bad. When he lifted up his shirt some of his intestines started to come out. His brother started to ball his eyes out and got grandpa to take him to the emergency room. My grandpa used this opportunity to get a biology lesson from the doc. Suppose a biology teacher doesn't get many opportunities to see inside a living body XD
The other time was when he was mountain biking with a friend. He fell hard on some sharp shale and cut open his side again. They got to the end of the trail, but his friend was too tired to go back and get the car. So my dad turned round and biked the 30 miles back in the dark to get the car, then got his friend. It was only when he got back to the hotel room that it occurred to him that he may need stitches xD
He's got a lot of stories...
