Description
From the card game "Star Of The Guardians", commissioned and published by Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weis, 1994.This "System" card was based on my earlier work "Maiden Flight", about a city in the clouds.
Gouache on masonite.

It's beautiful. And I gotta admit, I do chuckle at the sight of the high-tech city floating in the clouds, while an airship docks below.

In addition to the basis story "Maiden Flight", this illustration;
Is based on the more up to date uses of airships. In Sci-Fi, you can't always believe an old concept can't return in a new form.
