Halsey is the definition of a hopeless romantic. He manages to ruin dates in one way or another and doesn't understand why or how unless someone explains it to him when it's too late. He tends to treat everyone the same and that includes his previous and present partners. There would be times where he treated friends too friendly to make his partner believe that he was cheating on them. He truly likes the people he chooses to date however it never exceeds from a crush to what actual lovers do and feel. You could say that he is ignorant or naïve about what love is and has never properly learned the give and take of a successful relationship. Hence why so many people dump him after a month or two. Due to never having a successful relationship, he has grown to have a bitter outlook on romance.

After break ups, Halsey tends to to turn to alcohol to fix his problems and drink away sorrows. On nights like those, he becomes pessimistic and spouts nonsense about how romance is dead or if love will never bloom again or him. However the next day he'll bounce back into the game. Other than being a hopeless romantic, he is an energetic and upbeat character. Many people think he is years younger than his actual age because of this as well as having a baby face.

When Halsey was younger and more naïve in his early 20's he was a deep colored rose with a strong passion for love. Many people came to him because of his approachable appearance. However, it didn't mean that everyone fell in love with him right off the bat of course. They enjoyed his company and he was always fun to bring out to drinking parties. There was a point in time where Halsey was helplessly head over heals for someone. He couldn't help but be tied around their finger and follow them like a pitiful dog. It was the type of sweet crush where you could just ask them if they wanted to go to the super market at 2am for just because. The type where you wanted reply within a minute when they texted you because you wanted to talk to them, but you didn't want to be annoying or weird so you waited a minute to reply. It was that sort of puppy love. With the way it was going for them, they ended up dating. In the beginning of their relationship they started out shy, but lovey dovey. It was probably the sweetest and closest thing to love Halsey has ever tasted.

As time passed by, Halsey's significant other could no longer feel the spark that they once had due to the lack of affection in the relationship. They had always given something to Halsey in the relationship, but all he did was take, take and take. It was frustrating how unaware Halsey was about the position of their relationship. They have given him too many chances to try and work their relationship out, but it always ended up the same. Halsey's partner thought it was just time for the both of them part ways on a good note before things would get worse. It was a shock for Halsey for their partner to break up to them, but it proved his partner point. Halsey wasn't aware that he wasn't paying enough attention to their relationship.

That night, he called over friends to drink with him to cope with his break up, which began his alcoholic habits. During that time period, Halsey questioned himself a lot about relationships and love. What they meant to him, how he can become better or how it even felt. Halsey really thought he loved his significant other and thought things would work out.

After a year, he began dating again however none of those relationships would last because of one fault or another. After each break up, Halsey's ideal view of romance was ruined by his own mistakes. Slowly, his rose petals began to wilt and the deep rose colored life became dull.
