In the east of Cantor, in the vault of a church cleft by the chaos, is a tall peacock of porcelain. It has been kept here since time immemorial - a gift from a long forgotten noble for some long forgotten favour. Upon its chest is a heart of chalcedony. You must christen it with living breath until the air itself begins to breathe, rushing in gusts that pulse back and forth around you.

For just a moment, Anya allowed herself the chance to breathe. With the air alive around her, she felt as if she were standing at the breast of someone impossibly large, listening to their beating heart.

Were they holding her in their palms? Lending her an enormous hand, if for only a few seconds?

She smiled and laid her forehead against the chalcedony stone with a whisper of thanks for the brief respite. As it was swept away by the wind, she rose and squared her shoulders with a slow inhale.

It was time to go.

she probably figured out how it worked bc she got close enough to breathe on it while 'thinking aloud'

if anyone were to ask why she swung over to cantor, her excuse was that she was following through on her promise to reunite a nisalvini refugee w a loved one still in cantor--which wasn't a complete lie LMAO, anya went to bring trev back home to their babby/hubby while things were too hectic for anyone important to notice that she was gone she figured it was her best and last chance to do so before the war could pick up For Real..
i bumrushed this too hard and couldnt find a good way to include them GOMEN TREV...maybe theyre outside making sure finneas the great doesnt chomp on church rubble
