My first of two submissions to Project Rooftop's latest competition. I had about five minutes to submit when I had simpler and nicer ideas for the backgrounds (as you see here) than the images I submitted for the competition. The submitted backdrop concepts are so jarring and awful that they should be rejected on that premise alone...

The idea behind this one was to portray a happy-go-lucky, pin-up style Barbara Gordon as she's known and widely loved. The line choices were influenced by 50s-era pin-up attire (swimwear, lingerie and so forth) but creating a very practical, protective suit. My favourite additions are her boots and the Hammer Horror-esque vampire collar, something that fits better on Barbara than any other member of the Bat Family in my opinion. The most significant influences for this design are Bruce Timm and Gil Elvgren.
