PERSONALITY
Hayami is a peculiar teenage girl. She loves reading manga and living in her own fantasy world, so she may come off as absent while she’s in class or with other people, who consider her weird because of this. She has a tendency to eat unhealthy food and is crazy about fried sweet potatoes. She’s generally chaotic and very enthusiastic about her interests, although she doesn’t have many people to share them with; she also often comes off as awkward when she interacts with people who don’t understand her.
She loves trying out and experimenting new things, especially crazy and dangerous ones; because of this, she usually ends up either finding herself in trouble or getting injured, no matter the context, as she is pretty reckless and impulsive. She also has a short attention span and is easily distracted.
Hayami likes spending some time of the day alone in her room, losing herself in her fantasy world and writing down stories she comes up with, but she doesn’t like being alone all the time and feels sad whenever she can’t have fun with her friends. Volleyball is her main passion: she started practicing it in middle school when she desperately wanted to be part of a team in order to find people who accepted her and wanted to spend time with her without judging her interests and peculiarities. She grew fond of the sport because her teammates made her feel at ease and encouraged her instead of judging her: this pushed her to continue practicing it in high school.
RELATIONSHIPS
𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲: Hayami cherishes her family more than anything else: it’s her safe place, where she’s loved unconditionally and can be herself regardless. She admires, respects and adores her parents, whom she’s always honest with. Hayami has a younger brother, who she either gets along with extremely well, or absolutely can’t stand, no in-betweens.
𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬: Hayami’s best friends have to be Ushijima and Tendou: they hang out very often and practice volleyball together; they also can be themselves in each others’ company without being criticized. The entirety of the male and female volleyball team are also very pleasant company for her.
𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭: She’s head over heels for a certain boy, who she thinks is extremely cute and admirable. She doubts he feels the same way about her though, but she doesn’t mind keeping her feelings inside. She fantasizes a lot about him, and her teammates are fed up with her constantly talking about ‘how cute he is’.
𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬: Hayami cherishes, loves and supports her teammates in any way possible. She’s particularly loud and chaotic while cheering for them and while practicing together.

BIOGRAPHY
Hayami has always been different in a social context from her peers: she always seemed to be the slowest to grow up, and always acted like she was in her own fantasy world: because of this, she’s always had difficulty in interacting with people and making friends.
When she was in middle school, her classmates used to bully her because of her interests and the stories she wrote, which were considered immature and childish for her age. She also used to be overweight because of how much she ate, which was another reason she got bullied.
Hayami also used to have a big crush on one of her most popular classmates: she would constantly look at him and blush whenever he moved or talked. All of her classmates obviously noticed, her crush included, and all meaningly teased her, beginning to call her ‘the creepy stalker’.
Hayami always tried to ignore her bullies, but deep down she felt really hurt and began thinking lowly of herself, feeling as if she didn’t deserve to be appreciated and should hide her real self behind a mask in order to be accepted. She would go home after school and cry in her room because of how bad her classmates’ judgments made her feel.
One day around half of her first middle school year, out of desperation, she decided to join the volleyball club, hoping that this could give her a chance to be part of a team, of a group of friends who had to stick with her regardless. To her surprise, she got really involved in the game, and her teammates made her feel at ease and never judged her meaningly like her classmates did; this pushed her to continue practicing the sport in high school.
Hayami went to Shiratorizawa High School and joined the female volleyball team, where she could reunite with some of her middle school teammates. Thanks to volleyball, she became close to Ushijima, a classmate of hers who was also in the volleyball team of the school. Through him, she also met Tendou and the rest of the male volleyball team, becoming good friends with everyone.
Hayami is now a third year student in Shiratorizawa class 3-3, as well as a wing spiker in the female volleyball team of the school.
