Trying some new techniques with watercolors again. Used my hair dryer a lot during the process. Thanks for looking!

awesome... I love when watercolors are used like this. But I still can't do that, I'm always freaking out, when I see the waters and colors flow, suspecting them to mess up my drawing. As a result I am the one who ruins it by trying to direct the stuff with my brushes. Maybe I should just turn away and check back later? ^^
Now excuse me, I'm need to fav all your paintings...

Thank you very much! I get anxious when dealing with watercolors sometimes too. I find that using a hairdryer really helps speed up the drying process and the colors don't run together as much.

Oh man that's stunning. What brand of watercolors do you use, and what kind of paper?

I used Strathmore Imperial 500 Series watercolor paper, cold press. The paints are Schmincke watercolors.

Lovely.  I love the colors and the subject.

What do you use the hair dryer for?  Just to help it dry faster?

Aikya In reply to quicksilverstudios [2013-07-28 17:56:50 +0000 UTC]

Yes! Basically I put lots of water drops on the paint and when I dry it fast, it creates some neat textures. It's difficult trying to figure out when exactly to apply the water. Just a matter of 10 seconds can change the way the water bleeds through the pigment and alters the paint.
