Description Some kids I met while walking down St-Catherine street on a Sunday morning (approx. 3:00 AM)

Only a few years ago it was me sitting there with a 40oz completely zonked-out of my mind. The only difference was when it got too cold I would go home.

I have a particular place in my heart for all homeless youth.

About this photo : This is my first attempt at real "street photography" with human subjects. I'm extremely uncomfortable taking pictures of people. This night was different. I was back at my old habits and was very drunk. This has led to a new approach for me, leave the car at home and take the bus/subway. There is so much more time to observe the world around you. More time to think. More time to take pictures.

Camera : Canon TX

Lens : Image 28mm f/2.8

Film : Kodak TRI-X 400 pushed to 1600

Exposure : 1/30th @ f/2.8

Their expressions say more than they let on.

They look perfectly content with their lifestyle, but it's probably all just a front.

They remind me of a story...only, as you say the "real" homeless are the ones not dressed in a $500 punk outfit. And the ones in the story were the real homeless.

Anyway. Great two shots. I tend to like this one better simply because it is a closer view of the four kids, and you can see more details.

I like it. The way they're posing and at the same time not posing.
Interesting feeling.

the beauty of this is overwhelming. I guess you'd have to understand that I mean beauty by way of technical beauty, not that homeless children are wonderful.

Anyway, I admire this and your step into street photography was a great one.

Excellent... great to see you posting again, and even better to see some street photography. Love the expressions... so real... emotive... technically it looks great... love the noise and underground feel. Wonderful work.

I always want to take pictures of teenagers on the street. But many of them are not kind to me. Maybe I was not drunk?

While I agree completely, you have to remember that ALOT of the kids out there are there 'cause they like the lifestyle. They have perfectly happy families at home, with great, supportive parents. They hang out on the street during the summer and go home in winter.

But again, there are the ones who CAN'T go home. Those are the kids that aren't dressed in a $500 "punk-outfit" ...

a lot of us take the comforts of home for granted. sleeping in our beds at night dreaming our little dreams we drift away and forget that at the same time, someone just like you is awake struggling to survive and so very tired of life. a great shot.
