The writing of G. K. Chesterton has been very influential in my life, mostly his apologetics. His fiction, too, is top-notch, and one of the many overlooked author's titles is the Father Brown Mysteries. Whereas Sherlock Holmes solved mysteries by showing how simple the complex was, breaking down cases to bare facts, Father Brown solved them by demonstrating the strangeness of life and the human person, and that the simple answer was often times the wrong one.
