Description My messages right now are out of control! >.< But I'm working on them... I've been so busy this summer with summer school and going to cons and stuff. But I wanted to give you guys something so that you know I'm not dead, so here it is.

I worked on this costume for probably a total of three weeks (counting days spent on it), spread out over four or five months. Most of it was done in the last two weeks before AnimeExpo, right after I came back from Japan. I had a lot of fun with it, but it was a lot of work too.

I made the helmet myself. The bodysuit I got off of eBay, though I can't remember the particular company... Just search "zentai suit" and you should find some very reasonable deals. ^_^

Thank you so very very much!

I used a black lycra/spandex body suit (called a zentai suit) from eBay and painted it with acrylics. The helmet was a combination foam, posterboard, and Model Magic.

I think I listed more info on my Cosplay.com page, linked above, but I honestly can't remember. Let me know if you have any specific questions!

How did you find paint that would stick to your bodysuit (I desperately want to make myself one, but can't seem to figure out what kind of paint use for a Lycra bodsuit that won't chip. Or did you use a different material bodysuit, if so, what?)

agent-indigo In reply to Ziracona [2011-04-11 12:29:47 +0000 UTC]

I think mine was part spandex? It was a blend of some sort; I got it off of eBay.

I used acrylic paint at the advice of one of the first people to make a similar costume. The unfortunate part, however, is that it does indeed chip horribly. If you slather enough layers of paint on it's not too bad for a day's wear, but it will need frequent touch-ups after that, and you might want to lay a towel down if you sit on a chair on in a car.

Good luck! ^_^

awesome. i want to cosplay as midna (for halloween lol I'm new at this) could you make a tutorial on how you made the fused shadow? that'd be apreciated very much! I'm willing to start early, cuz I love making costumes.

agent-indigo In reply to spikeybracelet [2010-12-27 20:18:47 +0000 UTC]

That's probably a good idea-- it was a lot of trial and error. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures of my process...

If I don't get around to it, though, please feel free to ask me any specific questions you have! I'd love to help! The basic process was cutting out the shapes in foam, then in posterboard (and some cardboard where it needed more stiffness), and hot-gluing stuff on. Then I spray-painted the whole thing.

Maybe I should just sell the darn thing, haha. It's sitting in my room.

Good luck!

Sorry, just wondering, did you happen to go to Anime Evolution in Vancouver in August? Because if you did I'm pretty sure I saw you, or saw someone wearing a costume very similar to yours.
It's really amazing by the way.

where'd you get your wig? ive been looking for a midna wig for weeks!! im cosplayin as her for sac-anime in september!! im gonna get a zentai suite and paint it like her...but no idea where to get her wig or helmet/crown thingy...could you help me out?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

agent-indigo In reply to Kage-Arashi [2010-06-22 23:30:22 +0000 UTC]

I made the helmet myself with foam, poster board, clay, and spray paint. It took a lot of work and a very long time, so make sure you start on it soon!

The wig I bought at a local costume shop. I meant to get a more orange-y looking one, but I didn't find any that were long enough. I recommend looking online. There's a great wig site I use sometimes called Amphigory. Google it. ^_^

agent-indigo In reply to Refugeewolf [2009-12-02 18:33:47 +0000 UTC]

It's a lycra/spandex combination bodysuit called a "zentai suit" that I found on eBay. ^^

o.o HOW DO YA PEOPLE COLOR THE BODY SUIT?!?!?! I hope to cosplay Imp Midna so I've been lookin at some cosplays...but I can't figure out the secret!!! How'd ya do the fused shadow???

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

agent-indigo In reply to WakoGeek [2009-03-03 04:07:53 +0000 UTC]

Fused shadow is 3 pieces of foam with poster board glued onto it with a hot glue gun. I painted the suit (which is a lycra, spandex blend) with acrylic paint. It took several coats.

Good luck!

I promise it's mine. Could you send me a link to where you found said picture? I have an account on cosplay.com... Did you see it there? If it's somewhere else, then I'll have to ask whoever it is to take it down. This is my work.

Thank you for being concerned about things like this. It's very kind of you to want to protect people's work.

WOAH! This is super awesome! I have all kinds of respect for those who can make the Midna cosplay. Was it hard painting the leotard? Did you do it while it was on you? Does the painted part get crunchy?

You look super awesome! Great job! n_n

agent-indigo In reply to chaos-shadow [2009-02-11 20:47:15 +0000 UTC]

Thanks so much!!! It was a little difficult... It took a few coats. Even worse is that it constricts the fabric, and bleeds through it, too. I didn't paint it on me 'cuz I don't have that level of coordination. I put it on and sort of chalked out the outlines, painted it, then kept trying it on and adjusting.

I admit, I have no idea who you are.... BUT YOU ARE SO CUTE!!!!! :: pinches your cheeks:: Okay, maybe that is a really wierd thing to say (inner self: that is a TOTALLY CREEPY thing to say!) but from the moment I saw the thumbnail of this, all I could think was CUTE!

Very well made!! I know it's not easy to make leotard-costume things (I made one of Rogue a while back... My excuse for the bagginess was it was for Halloween so I needed to wear clothes under it!! Yeah yeah! That's right!

Kudos all around! And don't worry about your messages - getting fun life experiences is much better!

Does the bodysuit cover your hands and feet too, or did you use shoes and gloves? (Desperately trying to figure out how to make myself one of these, but can't seem to find a white bodysuit that covers hands and feet.)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

agent-indigo In reply to Ziracona [2011-04-11 12:36:23 +0000 UTC]

It came with removable gloves and socks. Also a mask, which I did not use.

Interestingly enough, the one I used was black-- white paint actually does wonders. The one problem was a loss of elasticity, though, so actually I was not able to use one of the socks after I painted it white. So I just wore a normal white sock instead.
