a while ago when I was art blocked I scribbled out a rough doodle of teenage mer-Sherlock and John. a request came for another when I was art blocked yet again, so I went with it.
as I said on tumblr:
in my head, sherlock drags john into the water immediately after this, and instead of fighting john totally goes for it, because in every universe he is addicted to danger, except he doesn’t die since the smooch was actually a magical “now you can breathe underwater” smooch
so now they can be interspecies boyfriends

Hey, so I have a pretty good idea for writing this, so I thought I'd give it a shot... Here we go
(Oh and I'm not British so i have no idea with settings and stuff for England.)
John had come to the pier outside his sister's beachside flat for a few weeks now to visit the strange but mesmerizing mer-creature, Sherlock, that lived in the depths. The teenage boy was nowhere near prepared, however, when, one day at the pier, long webbed-fingers reached up to cup the back of his head and his lips were pulled down to press against soft, cold ones. Dark blue eyes widened as the merman's aqua closed gently. Just starting to process what was going, John let out a small sigh through his nose and started to close his eyes when another wet hand pushed at his back and the boy was pulled into the cold water. He couldn't help but enjoy the fear and exhilaration of the surprise while Sherlock pressed John against his chest. The kiss continued gently and wonderfully as they sank deeper and deeper.
It wasn't until he felt the mer-creature smirk slightly that the teen realized he didn't need to go to the surface to breathe. Eyes snapping open to look into the victorious blue-green of Sherlock's, John broke the kiss in amazement. After a minute to conclude that he could, in fact, breathe underwater, the human boy returned Sherlock's grin as the merman took his hand and pulled him deeper into the ocean.
(Oh wow, that wasn't as good as I had hoped, sorry, but I don't have much time to make it perfect...Sorry, but there you go..)

Oh, I'd love to read a story featuring this scene! Were I better at writing AUs, I would give it a shot, but when I work on other universes I tend to get lost in details and end up never finishing the story. (For example, I'm currently wondering about biological features, like Sherlock's hands which are palmed up to the tips of his fingers, the fins surrounding the place where tail meets flesh, etc., which would probably lead me to do research on mermaids before I even try to write a line.

Haha, I'd love to but I'm actually quite terrible at writing fic! Someone else would have to write it, I'm afraid. But I'm sure there are a few on archiveofourown that you could find, though :]
