Description This is my first attempt at painting a picture from scratch. Usually I use Poser figures as models and paint over them, but in this pic I started with a blank screen and drew the rough sketch with the wacom tablet and Corel painter and then proceeded to paint the rest of the image.

This is the first time I have tried to paint faces and I am not very good at it.

Anyway, this is a scene from the book Bloodlines where Boba Fett's daughter is delivered to him in a body bag. The young woman standing over the body is supposed to be Boba's granddaughter, Mirta.

Please do a full view. Thanks!

Mhm. That’s one of the reasons he’s so interesting and one of the EU’s best. Despite what happens to him, he always finds a way to get back up.

Beautiful painting! The scene is heartbreaking though.

Thank you! It was sad…not only for Boba Fett and his granddaughter, but to the readers who liked Jacen Solo. Β He was no longer the joking kid we knew from the YJK books. Β He was a murderer.

Wow, Boba really had a fucked up life, didn't he?

This great nonetheless, if a little sad.

O.O

Holy shab. This is very well done.

It was such a side part in the series, it made Fett seem more human though. O.o

Not that I don't mind. x3

Anyways, absolutely amazing job with all of this.

Wow, this is an amazing pic, you really captured the scene in the cramped confiens of Slave 1 where Fett and Mirta recover Ailyns body. It's easily one of the saddest moments in Star Wars, it's the only time I've ever felt sorry for Boba Fett, nice job

I cried when I read this. The big, bad, heartless Bounty Hunter, Boba Fett, the nightmare of everyone, was ready to become allies with Han to say I am sorry to Ailyn, when she dies. Poor Boba, he didn't deseve it. I want to give Boba hug.

Wow, that is almost exactly how I pictured that scene when I was reading the book. Boba Fett standing there, gazing at the body of his daughter and his newly revealed grand-daughter while Mirta cried over her mother's body.

All in the dark.

Boba Fett is awasome! He is one of my favorite character to use in Battlefront 2.

amazing work!
I loved Bloodlines, and this particular scene struck me quite a lot... very emotional, though every one of the characters tries hard not to let it show.
I've always been fond of the character of Ailyn Vel, I even cosplayed her once, and her death was a bit.. premature imho. could have done quite a lot with her character in the future...

anyway... superb painting, very atmospheric!

Thank you very much. I have never heard of Ailyn Vel before the Bloodlines novels. Is she in a video game, comic or some other novel I don't know about?

I am glad you like it. That was a very sad scene from the novel. That and her torture. I did a pic of that also. It shows Ben waiting outside the interrogation room in anguish.

I appreciate your comments!

oooh where can I find that torture pic of yours? is it up here? didn't see it yet. need to look.
well, since I got to know her (by accident on a star wars forum) I'm kinda obsessed with the idea of Boba Fett's family. I hated it at first (like it was out of character for a man like Fett), but familiarized myself with it quickly.

she was never in a game (would be cool, though!), but there's a comic book story with her mother and Ailyn as a baby in it, she had a brief appearance in the young Jedi Knight series I believe, and there was a drawing in a star wars insider magazine, which is still the only official pic there is...

if you want more info on her life, you can check wookieepedia on that

Very good - I thought the best part of that book was Fets need to make things right with his daughter. "That's my little girl there."

And yeah - Mirta's armor would be similar to her greeat-granddads, since they were both 'clanless" in effect.

Again, very good take on an emotional moment. Thank you for sharing it.

It would be cool if that blue light would make part of boba little bit blue too. And if there would be some little reflection ni bobas visir. (thoug it works that way too)

just thoughts Very well done

AG88 In reply to EricVonRuin [2006-11-03 14:23:22 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I see what you mean. This was my first true painting so I had some difficulty getting lighting and shadows right.

Up until this point I would render the scene using Poser 6 (a 3D animation program) and adjust the light source. I would then paint over my nude characters. This was a little easier because I was painting over a figure that was already established with the shadows already defined. So I knew where to put the lights and darks.

But, after much encouragement from my art buddies, I decided to try my hand at drawing a scene from scratch. So I started with pencil and paper, drew the rough, scanned it and then painted it with Corel Painter. But now I was totally on my own when it came to lighting adn shadowing.

I think I was a bit over my head. LOL

Thanks for the critique. I need all the help I can get! I really appreciate it.
