This is my OC for Inuyasha. I originally wanted to do a fanfiction with her in it, but it was never going to happen, so I'll tell you about her now.

Her name is Are (prounouced ah-reh). She's a priestess (dur). Inuyasha and co. were injured after a particularly nasty battle with Naraku. They come to this city that's surrounded in a barrier. They only realize it's a barrier, though, after Shippou, Inuyasha, and Kirara almost can't make it through. In the end, they can because Inuyasha is only half youkai and Shippou and Kirara are so small (that actually works out, but it's too much to explain now... it involves Kirara's youki). Anyways, they come into the village and meet the miko Are.

Are is relatively young, about Kikyou's age. She's not exactly dumb, but she's a bit naive. She was the daughter of a noble samurai who died when she was about 10. Her mother died in childbirth. She was raised by an old miko, but still gives off the aura of a noble woman, despite living a simple life from a young age. She isn't a sad person, but (also like Kikyou) she occasionally wishes she wasn't a miko. But that's just a fleeting selfish thought she rarely has. The truth is, she really wants to help other people, though she really isn't so suited to be a miko.

Due to the barrier, left up by her predecessor, she only has to deal with small youkai and disease in her village.

While healing from their latest attack, the Inuyasha group hangs out in the village and the girls get to be on close terms with Are. Inuyasha and Kagome become closer, to the point of being actively together. A villager falls in love with Are and tries to persuade her to teach another girl to be a miko and marry him, but she refuses.

Are isn't afraid of youkai partially because she has never had to deal with a nasty one and partly because, when she was young a youkai saved her after her home was overrun and her father killed.

Long story short, the villager who fell in love with Are gets drunk and rapes her. Her powers, which had been fading since falling in love with Inuyasha, fade completely. Depressed and hurt, she falls into a catatonic state. Then they find out she's pregnant.

The villager, extremely remorseful, is stopped from killing himself by Inuyasha and Miroku. They beat his ass halfway to hell, then throw him out of the safety of the village.

Naraku attacks (or an incarnation of him... something of that sort) and busts down the barrier that Are could no longer keep up. Losing miserably, the Inuyasha group face certain defeat until *gasp* Are wakes up enough to put herself in front of an attack. The battle ends. They think Are will die.

BUT she doesn't. Instead, she gets better, but has no memory of the last month or so. She lives the rest of her life as a relatively normal woman, raising her son, and helping the new miko of the village.

points about Are:
her blonde hair comes from what might be faint youkai blood. She isn't a hanyou or anything though. Just, at some point, someone might have slept with a youkai. Certainly weirder things have happened.

She really cares about her duties as a miko and realizes at times that she is being too frivolous, but she really wasn't made to be a miko.

She isn't a Mary Sue. Inuyasha never falls in love with her. Indeed, he barely realizes her feelings for him. Meanwhile, the only extraordinary thing about her is her blonde hair, and that is easily explained.
