"It feels like a dream, doesn't it? Deja vu."

The irony of what they were doing was not lost on Guen as she sauntered aboard the Headhunter, running her hand along its railings. It was a beautiful ship, really. Pity that it was going to go up in flames soon, and become nothing more than bits of splinter floating in the ocean - just like the ships they had destroyed in Belport. Same tasks, same goals - just a performance for a different master this time.

"Good thing we've had practice."

At her companion's wry reply, Guen's gaze turned back to Naila and a crooked smile formed on her lips as she shook head. "Better not mess up then, or all that practice would really have been for naught."

"Yeah, like that would happen." Scoffing at Guen's flippant behavior, the taller woman waved the girl off to do her part and darted to the back of the ship, disappearing beneath the decks in the blink of an eye. Simultaneously, the smile on Guen's face vanished to be replaced by a steely look in her eyes as she began her own tasks. She moved swiftly, hands working deftly to tie the explosive tags to key spots around the ship, settling into a rhythm as her hands worked the knots. A small smudge of magicked oil would activate them, but also contain the explosive force of the magic until it dried. It would give them enough time to get away, and be on the seas when all of the chaos was unleashed. While the young woman believed little of the ancient Gods, she prayed that no one would step near the harbor when it all begins. After all, they had done so much to plan the festivities of that night so no one would be near their ships. The ones, anyways, that she knew would never leave Linhythe. The ones who were coming with her - they had better things to do around the city to earn their keep, like her.

It left a sour taste in her mouth to think that perhaps they were just changing the hands which held the end of their leash. The feeling of being a tamed thing was not a pleasant one, but nothing in life ever came for free. This was the price they would have to pay for freedom. This was the price she had to pay for redemption.

After placing the last tag, she peered through the darkness, hoping to catch a glimpse of the line of ships that had been already tagged and would be afloat in flames within the hour. It proved difficult to even see the silhouette of the individual vessels, as the silvery light of the moon had been dulled by the dark storm clouds threatening the city. For a moment, Guen wondered if it a work of nature, or the work of mages from Miras? They had looked normal enough to her, but it would not surprise her if they were things of magic.

She had a feeling she would be seeing a whole lot more of magic before this whole thing was over.

At the sound of approaching footsteps, she cautiously slipped behind a stack of crates only to realize that it was Naila, and edged back out to reveal herself. Silently, Naila gave her the signal for clear, indicating that there was no one else aboard, and the pair quickly made their way off of the now doomed vessel, and trotted to the end of the harbor to join a few of the other crewsmen from the Blackhound. Nodding at each other with grim determination, the group exited the area and wordlessly took their leave. Some of the more careless ones slapped each others' backs in congratulations - after all, they were making a fortune - but silenced themselves under Guen's reprimanding gaze. After all, the night was beginning. There was still much, much more to be done.

As the sounds of explosions rocked the city, the two girls could not help but to pause and glance back. "So it begins," Naila murmured, eyes lingering for a second at the flames dancing on the horizon before turning her gaze to Guen, who was already turning away to continue on her way.

"No time to look back now. Let's go."

Collab between me and for the Mutiny event with our characters!

Overall quite like how this turned out because I got to experiment with a few techniques I don't normally use~ Guen looking beaut as always and Naila finally gets a spiffy new outfit... as well as enough explosions in the background to make Michael Bay proud...  then the lens flare for J. J. Abrams

Guen @ faithom
Naila @ me
