Well to begin, the colors you used work very well together and the anatomy seems correct from my standpoint ( But it is a alien thingy so it really doesn't matter).
The first thing I noticed was how the face was so much sharper than the body which seems unbalanced. I know you're trying to emphasize it as the focus and it works since I noticed the face haha. It looks like everything is blurred but the face which is kinda awkward. I also don't get where the orange lighting is coming from on the right side face, but that's not really important.
I do wish that the coloring on body was more smooth, but I understand that rendering shades and muscles can be difficult.

I would like to see more oranges( you did some with the octopus legs) and yellows played into as there is such a strong blue hue on the entire picture.
Also try playing with textures, especially in the background. There are lots of free texture online and even on this site to mess around with.

*note* These are all just suggestions since there are lots of factors in play...maybe you didn't smooth things out because you wanted to show strokes and mark marking, etc.

Overall, I think it is a great digital painting

Thanks for the critique you said exactly what I was thinking. I pointed it out to my teacher today actually lol. I tend to tighten up when I render, and I noticed the face looked way too refined compared to the rest.. when I tried to fix it, it was too late . I also pointed out how monochromatic everything seemed and how the warm colors would help with the contrast on that side of his body (some kind of pink/orange).
Keeping all of this in mind, I'm at work on my next piece - attempting not to tighten up and use lots of color!
Thanks for your honesty, I love hearing opinions, especially when it really does help me improve.
