Description Sorry for the large size, but it was necessary in being able to see the cool stuff ^^
This tutorial should not be seen anywhere but in my gallery and on cubicflow.
I don't require you to credit me or anything, but a simple mention would be nice. I hope this to be a guide more than a tutorial.

EDIT: I added a pic that shows what I got.

This is a great tutorial, where did you get that terrain from?

What were the Terrain Genesis settings?
I need to know, because i want to be able to make landscapes like that

The surface settings were essentially the same, it was the atmosphere that made that terrain. Postworking helped too.

I meant the generate terrain settings then.
When you press the "Generate Terrain" button, the window it opens is called "Terrain Genesis"

Oh, I used world machine to create the terrain. -Search on google and you'll find severl terrain generation programs for terragen

Wow, so I'm not the only person who put's his rock ontop of the snow afterall!!

The reason being is that I noticed that the roughness of the rock layer affected the distribution of the snow layer... Atleast that's how I explained it

You've got an interesting method here, but I do think the "rocks on snow" principle is a bit of a cop out . Having your rock where it would be in real life makes for much more predictable results, and can be crisp if you 1. know how to use your layers and 2. render at twice your intended resolution.

That, however, is a very nice example image.

yeah, dunno I've tried it with that technique and I've just gotten better results than the standard way of doing it. Just my personal opinion

Nice and simple write-up. I always have problems with snow renders, so I'll have to give this a shot sometime.
