Description Looking across Llyn Cau to Cadair Idris, "The Chair of Idris" in southern Snowdonia, Wales. It's probably my favourite lake in Snowdonia, well worth a visit. This was taken during my recent trip to Snowdonia on my gold DofE expedition, visiting and photographing lakes in the area. More to come soon!

Beautiful! And hey, no clouds on top to make a change! First time I've seen that...

Ouch, only climbed it without cloud. Admittedly, that's only once, but hey. Hope it's better weather for you next time!

Lucky thing.
Haha yeah, done it... 4 times? Plus one failed attempt when the weather got really yuck and we had to turn back.
I think we're going again in the Easter or Summer, I hope the weather's good too!

Is that sky actually from this scene? How did you process this?

adamlack In reply to JakeSpain [2011-07-07 10:32:13 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it is. Does it look that unreal?

I used a gradient adjustment in camera raw to simulate an ND filter over the sky, because it was a bit overexposed - maybe that's what makes it look a bit strange? Other than that the only processing was increasing contrast and vibrance a bit, and resize/sharpening. It's stitched from 6 portrait images.

Maybe it looks artificial because it's too saturated? I didn't actually boost it that much, because it was a very bright day anyway, but I did up it a bit.

I agree, the sky looks a bit unreal and oversaturated! It makes it stand out, though!!

Maybe I should have toned it down a bit, you're right. It really did seem incredibly blue that day, but I'm not sure that was down to the sky itself, or just my state of tiredness!
