I tried standing on my own
Without any support
I’ve danced on the edge of the abyss
I know my limitations
Along this razor thin edge
I’ve come so close to falling
Don’t know how I tried
Don’t know why I tried
To try and keep my balance

I know I could do this
Could stand on my own feet
But I’ve been wondering
What it would be like to hang
Just above the ground
It’s been on my mind
Regress to an earlier time
Repress what’s gone by
To try and keep my balance

And you just replaced a soul
Because you could not bear to hold
The shame and guilt which you deserve
Left inside when you evicted
A life much more fulfilling
So now I don’t know why
To walk along this line
And I’ll watch over this abyss
Until I let my balance slide
