i don't understand how people can make these cool models in sketchup haha. i can see it in max and maya but i can't come to anything close like this in sketchup

Honestly, its not very hard.. ive been modelling for 1 year exactly with about 8-10 hours modelling per week. If you reallllly want to learn, watch every 600v tutorial there is very carefully and about 50 times. It will soon enough sink in and you will be able to create these types of models with somewhat ease. This took about 10 hours including rendering time and PS alteration.

awesome thanks. I use max to do my modeling but i really like the the work i have seen from sketchup it has such a unique style to it

I call it the '600v style' because really he was the pioneer to the style you refer to. He is able to make SU models look different/better/amazing. Plus with the artisan plug-in, organic modelling can also be done.. so for the hobby-ist, you can go wrong with SU.
