Description "Hey, mom. You have any idea what those three could be talking about?" Psy asked his mother, as they sat in their backyard on the porch steps looking at their Pokémon eat.
"I honestly don't know," his mother replied. "I'm not sure how your father understands Pokémon speech. He's never explained it to me, other than saying he's been with Pokémon for a long time." Azuma tried to pick up the empty bowl in front of her, but couldn't get a good grip. Granny picked up the bowl for her and carried it inside along with his own. Azuma then walked over to Psy to sit on his lap. "Spend a lot of time with Pokémon, huh?" he thought out loud. "Too much work." Azuma threw her arms up and happily yelled out her name. Based on what his dad told him before, Psy guessed that she repeated what he previously said. "Having dad around, does make it easier for us to understand them. Otherwise I wouldn't have really guessed that Azuma has a habit of copying what I say. "It's strange, though," his mother said, "I've known your father since we were little, and to me it seemed like he always could understand them." Psy shrugged. "Who knows." All the Pokémon that were still eating suddenly stopped and looked at the back door. Psy and his mother, Clarice, both turned around as they heard the backdoor open. And they saw Roger standing  there, with Kirleen by his side. "Sorry we're late, honey. We had some things we needed to discuss." "It's okay," Clarice responded while getting up and walking towards the kitchen. "I'll go warm up dinner. Before she could pass through the backdoor into the kitchen, Roger stopped her. "Yeah, about that… Dinner's gonna have to wait. This is important." "Why, what's wrong?" Clarice asked. "There is a Pokémon approaching the city," Kirleen said. "And it's a legendary too," Roger added. "It's gone out of control and made its way here from Kanto." Psy jumped up. "One of the three birds?" Roger nodded. "Yeah, most likely. We received a warning from someone. We're not sure, but it might have been a Psychic-type Pokémon. It managed to protect Azelea Town from receiving major damage, but put itself on the line to do so. Now it's chasing the Pokémon, who's on its way here. We have one hour before it gets here, and if we don't take it out, Cherrygrove will suffer." Clarice grabbed Roger by his waist, and rested her head on his chest. "I see. You're gonna challenge another legendary, aren't you, dear?" "Wait, again? You have before?" Psy asked, amazed by what he heard his mother say. "…Entei," Roger answered. "I don't know the details, but a long time ago,  before you were born, the three legendary beasts set out to find the strongest trainers in the region. They challenged every trainer they thought looked strong, to a battle. They even challenged Gym Leaders. And Entei challenged me." Psy stared at his father, unable to believe what he's hearing. "What kind of trainer is he? First I hear stories about all these weird battles he's had, Beating the Elite Four, and now this?" Roger put his arms around Clarice, and slowly caressed her hair. "And in case you were wondering, I lost." Roger pulled away from his wife and took out a Pokéball. He threw it and Morfius came out. "If it wasn't for Morfius, I wouldn't have been alive right now." "I just realized something," Psy said. "Where's Joe?" Roger looked at Kirleen. "Reconnaissance," she replied. "He is flying around town, keeping watch for when the Pokémon approaches." Psy scratched his head. "Well, why can't you do that?" Kirleen looked at the ground and said, "For some reason, my mind's eye can't show me a clear picture of which Pokémon is coming here or when." "So I sent Joe to keep a look-out for us," Roger added. "We'll meet up with him when he sees the Pokémon approaching." Roger's strange answers made Psy even more curious. "How would you know when he sees something?" Roger looked him dead in the eye, made a thumbs-up gesture, and said, "I have my ways." "He has that weird look in his eye again, like when he battled before," Psy thought. "What could that be?" Roger turned his face and looked back. "Oh, looks like Joe can see him, Kirleen." He squints his eyes a little. "Looks like a… It's a Moltres!" Everyone stared at Psy father. "Alright! I may have had only Morfius before, but I have an army now! Let's go, everyone!" All of the Pokémon who were previously eating were all lined up in front of Roger. "Honey, keep dinner warm for me. I won't take too long!" He promptly kissed his wife on the lips and proceeded to dash out of the house when he suddenly stopped. He stayed for a second and then slammed his fist on the kitchen counter. Psy, his mother and all the Pokémon ran inside. "What's the matter, dad?" Psy asked. "That idiot! He's wants to take on Moltres by himself. Come on! We have to catch him!" He ran out of the house, and all the Pokémon followed him, except Azuma, who was still being held by Psy. "This sounds like it's going to be too much work… But I'm going after him." And with that Psy left the house too.
