A lot of people seem to like having him come from wealth…I prefer to imagine him as blue collar, working/lower middle class. he seems like a very dependable, driven, solid kind of guy. That’s a lot of what I like about eruri, also, that rivaille is such a loose cannon/so temperamental/flouting of authority, and irvin is sort of the authority figure, a rock, and yet they trust each other implicitly, at the deepest level, with life-or-death decisions, with each other’s lives. I love that contrast and that balance.
