Description Vijayadashami, also known as Dussehra, is a major Hindu festival celebrated at the end of Navaratri every year. It marks the triumph of good over evil and is observed on the tenth day of the Hindu calendar month of Ashwin. The festival commemorates the victory of Lord Rama over the demon king Ravana, symbolizing the victory of righteousness and truth over falsehood and evil. In some parts of India, it also commemorates the victory of Goddess Durga over the buffalo demon Mahishasura. People celebrate Vijayadashami by participating in religious ceremonies, cultural events, processions, and the burning of effigies of Ravana, depicting the victory of good forces over demonic forces. It is a time of joy, devotion, and the strengthening of bonds within communities.
