The Hill Chieftains head seems a bit large for his body.

Care to tell us something about each of these guys? Like from which era each of them are and so on and so forth.

They are all from the same era. Isildur on the far left and his father beside him. Then the eriadorean warrior or prince. Another Numenorean in heavy armour. A clan chieftan and finally back to a Numenorean again. You could make a case about the guy on the far right as being from the time of the Last Alliance, but that's it.Β

Β Any High King brave enough to do his own dirty work, not to mention strong and fell enough to WRESTLE with Sauron (even if it WAS a double-team effort) deserves to become a legend!
Β Master Papakhian, please allow me to salute you for being one of the best artists on this website, so far as I am concerned (if it means anything the image above is one of the major reasons I signed up because quite frankly I could not resist adding my voice to the compliments your work fully deserves!).

I like all the cultural differences!
Elendil's height always makes pause. 8 feet!! I'd come up to his waist! Terrifying -- you can see why he held his own in hand-to-hand combat with Sauron!

great work, I particularly enjoy the karma and that great insect looking gladiator helm. works really well with the scales and has that aloof, inhuman quality that can make armor so scary.

exactly. Now imagine that this guy in armour is almost 8' tall and you can see how overwhelming they must have appeared on a battlefield.

This is so beautiful! It has such an amazing sense of culture and the amount of detail is breath-taking!

This wasn't about being bang on with all the details. I admit that the hillmen's head looks too big, but it doesn't bother me at all. It looks right on him. This was more about showing the Numenoreans as an ancient culture. Very refined and exotic. They should look like the source for all subsequent cultures to some degree, even the eastern ones given the amount of exploration they had done.

Oh, these are some interesting versin of the Numenorians in their days of glory, versus their more down-to-Earth neighbors in Arnor & Gondor.

There should be some progression and evolution given the amount of time that has elapsed. I've always found it curios that clothing and armour stay stagnant over thousands of years. If you allow for progress, the first age should look very archaic in comparison to the third.

It seems to me that Middle-Earth has both progression and evolution at times, but I can understand and endorse your premise that people of the newly founded Kingdoms in Exile in SA 3000 should look different from Gondor & Rohan in TA 3000. I was impressed by all the detail you put into a b&w illustration.

thanks, I want my armours to look functional as well as exotic. In this instance it was to show an interesting variety.
