Description this guy was a childish fear..
at the age of 7 i was frightened by the upper floors of my home..i believed that a group of black dressed men lived there
and that if i disturbed them i would be killed..
so if the light of the stairs was off i was always watching them, expecting that one of the black dressed men would appear.
geez.. you know.. childhood fears scare me more than all the crappy horror films and stories i heard

Oddly enough I had that same fear. I think it was from a movie or something. His lanky-ness looks exactly like what I was always terrified of.

Damn. I used to dream that a man just like this one, altogether with a shorter and fatter one would flip my bed over to suffocate me with the mattress. Strange things what children's minds can come up with.
Great work, the colours are soft and the man isn't threatening, but still there's something really creepy about the whole image.

This is creepy as hell! I have dreams/nightmares of walking on haunted upper floors and attics my house doesn't actaully have. This is like that.

HUWEEEEEE!!!! No! No creepy stuff please!! It's so awesome that I'm scared to death!!!! His pose is so... agressive and the lightning... oh no! May be it would be looking creepier if the surroundings become darker and the light source comes only from the window. It would be so creepy!!!

well you've managed to capture that atmosphere perfectly. it's creepy and sinister, i love how the man doesn't really have facial features of any sort.. it makes the fear seem more like a manifestation of the mind rather than reality, good call on that. at the same time the man's pose and the proportions make this a little comical and, well, childish. fits perfectly with your description.. and i love the style! awesome work.
btw what medium is this?

Oh man this is soooo fantastic!

Fantastic creepy heeby jeeby someone in the dark to greet me Great!

This is absolute madness of the best kind!

Now you have me thinking of that 'Thing' that used to hang like a thick cloud just beyond the darkness of my sight. That 'Thing' that still lurks there deep within my psyche I choose to bid farewell.

Well Hello Again!

LOL

Splendid piece of art,

I need to start picking out a frame to place this on the wall at the dark end of my hall leading up the stairs. HA HA! It's a good thing I do not have Kids!

Wow, just about the most bone chilling image I've seen in a long time. It's simple, and in being so, appeals to what things were like to me as a kid.
The darkness and subtle tones are a nice edge, it's as though it's night time, and I really am 7 again. There is such attention to detail in your lighting, and it shows care.
I'm impressed, great work!

.. that's really creepy, but very well done. The colours don't all mash together, but stand out to show the guy. Really.. impressive work.

lolol! Great sketch and nice inspiration. It's good to face your childhood fears, even when grown up. I like the dark colours and of course his slim body/pose. This gets a fav for sure!

heh, it seems that everyone has childhood fear like this one.... my one was translucent, but solid, thin and black dressed like this one. and i dont like going upstair until today...

tifaria [2003-08-07 00:47:31 +0000 UTC]

That's.. really creepy. But in a good way. Stuff from my childhood still freaks me out at times, too.. there's something about things upstairs or things under the bed that sends chills up your spine more than stupid horror movies. I guess it's that whole "I know there's something there but I can't see it" thing.

Anyway, I really like the colours and the pose this guy is in. It's strange, because he doesn't look particularly malicious or anything, but I still wouldn't want to go near him.

oh my gosh, this is so creepy... i had a similar childhood fear - mine was that there was this monster that looked like a taller version of a green Gollom waiting at the bottom of the stairs just out of sight... i was terrified of our basement for years...
