Description
In the same archipelago where the Invisibes lived, a vestigial tribe was discovered. They say that the same way the Invisibes were blind, the Five-hands, as they walled them, were amnesic.

They had an apparently elaborate system of scripture, which researchers found only engraved on some scarce idols in the jungle; but Five-hands had no idea how to read them. As for the idols themselves, they couldn't tell what they represented, but when a researcher attempted to remove some of the weeds and roots covering them to get a better look, he received such murderous looks, of the kind he described as the equivalent of someone pointing a gun at his head back at home, that he just let the idols keep their secrets.
