Meaos are a species i been working in!
Theyre really old (like from 2007 lol) n i been revamping them. You can check the whole progress in my patreon !
Its been nice to give this species a second look after so long, back then they werent even a species just a set of features i liked and used to draw often.

I kinda dropped them for a long time because i thought there wasnt anything unique abt them. But i guess i grew up not caring much about uniqueness and now am doing what i like for fun lol

Theyre named meao as a prefix for the kind of meao they are, for example this kinda "long" faced meao is meao ixuí, and a short faced meao is meao xatpán. I imagine that the word "meao" in their language is just something like "from the clan of" and humans heard they saying theyre meao this and meao that over and over to a point they just assume theyre all called meao. If youre curious why i named them "meao" out of all possible things, it all started back in uhhh 2009 or whatever when me and my buddy mirtilo would overuse that word for everything and now its ingrained in my brain and i cant look back at a species from that time and call it something else lmao its a funny way to write miau / meow. Its fun and it gives me good memories so yeehaw meao it is

So far the plan is that theyll be a semi-open species, but while i test the waters theyre closed, and currently patreon only! If youd like to support me in making those guys while having early access to them, please consider giving my patreon a look :>
