I'm going to be brutally honest; this is absolute genius.
I looked at it for all of thirty seconds and I read so much into it . . . yikes. The amount of symbolism I took from this was scary. I'd go into it, but I don't want to be one of those art appreciator nuts that annoys everyone with their ridiculous insight (at this point, I should have stopped talking.)
Anyways. The play on light here is absolutely wonderful. I love that it's a very grainy shot and that the focal point is . . . well. Out of focus. That's just awesome to me for some reason. The smoke is so chaotic looking; not at all like smoke. And you know, the monochrome just tops it all off . . .

I agree, a slightly eerie image. It reminds me of a shrine, the smoke being incense.

the smoke, in my mind creates a face in it's center clustered swirl... the densest area. maybe it becoming a face, subtly would create a sick effect, giving affect? no?
