I really love the JS loco that the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad have, it's actually one of my personal favorite steam engines.

I LOVE IT!

I find it somewhat sad how people act about Chinese locomotives.
We're America, we support immigration and putting aside differences, why not with locomotives?

It has the Chinese flag on it just because it's Chinese built?

Yes, It does. The engine was bought in the 1980s, And is one of the final engines of its type built.. Well it was supposed to be. It is no different than the LNER A4 on display in Green bay WI. It has a british flag on it. A few american engines that went overseas during the war now sport American flags in their preservation lives.

Believe it or not, that loco was actually ordered by and built FOR the Boone and Scenic Valley.

I'd Believe it. I don't understand why they (China's Steam Locomotives) Get such a bad rep.. In my opinion, At Trainfest 2011, 6988 outdid 765..

I think part of that is due to technology. Many of China's steam engine designs are copies of older western locomotive designs. Their more recent build dates belie their much older designs and technology. 6988 was built in the 1980's but was originally built on technology from as late as the 40's to maybe the mid 1910's.

It may be. Even tho they are built without the same quality as some, (If not most) of their american counterparts.
