Description This deviation started out like "Scribbloicthyosaurus", I scribbled large loops and lines across the paper in sharpie marker and then looked for a picture....or in this case, pictures. Hidden throughout are various animals of the deep ocean: Pygmy Shark, Goblin Shark, Sea Angel, Orange Roughy, Deep Sea Snaggletooth, Pointy Hat Jelly, Gulper Eel, Crossota Norvegica, Glass Squid, Cock-eyed Squid, Vent Scale-worm, Pompeii Worm, Eusirid Amphipod, Glass Squid, Viperfish, Pacific Sea Dragon, Dumbo Octopus, and two creatures that don't belong (one of them is hinted at in the title since it was the first I did). Those two creatures were the first in the picture and then I just went with a whole new theme...probably because I was watching Blue Planet: Abyss. Anyway, I love love love the deep parts of the ocean...it is, in fact, my name (hint hint) in the Hawaiian language.

This entire thing was done in sharpie and a single micron pen I effectively killed over the course of the last five days. No pencil work at all, so if I made a mistake, so be it. It also kind of sucked because I was using a huge micron pen, which is no good for a detail-oriented lady like myself.

My favorites are the Orange Roughy, Cock-eyed Squid, and Goblin Shark.

Haha, this was so long ago, I don't think I could accurately say, but it wasn't too long that much I remember. Maybe a day or so?

Actually, I think M.C. Escher once did something very similar to this, though his was populated with both real and fantastic creatures.

In regards to the detail, I think you did a fantastic job, overlarge Micron aside.

Huh, oh yeah, I do vaguely remember seeing something like that by Escher.

I love the way you managed to find so many animals! And they all look like they belong right where you put them, not forced at all.

That. Is a KICKASS concept and I think you fared magnificently with conveying so much awesomeness within very articulated execution. Love how everything fits so perfectly in those warped spaces, an excellent presentation Dig it much.

Thanks! It was fun to blend the different animals together even though there are large sharpie lines through them.

Interesting exercise. I love how many toothed fishes you drew - I doodle toothed birds and fishes compulsively. I think my favorite is the Snaggletooth. And thanks for naming these species - I'd never seen a goblin shark or a cock - eyed squid before

I'm quite fond of animals of the abyssal plains and trenches. Goblin sharks are so awesome.
