Thanks for the comment. While I really enjoy working with the GiMP (I like the user interface), and povray (from a technical standpoint), I do find the work to be frustrating at times. It takes me substatnially longer to put together something in POVray than it does others using tools such as 3d Studio Max or Cinema 4D. But, when I pull something off, I usually feel really good about it, so maybe that's the price to be paid

Oh, it's almost trivially solved using any scientific calculator worth it's salt.
The number is approximately:
1.6180339887498948482045868343656...

To most people, this is just another irrational number..however, it does have a special name, the Golden Mean/Ratio. It's a ratio that appears all over the place in nature (nautiluses (?), the spirals in the face of a sunflower, etc.)
And, for a little more trivia:
The multiplicitive inverse of this number (ie: the number such that when you multiply it by the golden ratio gives you 1 [eg: the multipicitive inverse of 2 is 1/2]) is roughly:
0.6180339887498948482045868343656...,
or, more precisely Golden Mean - 1.
