Hi, me again! I can't tell if something is faulty with my notes or not, but it's been a few days since I sent my note for the rp. Just let me know if you wanted to keep it going or not! I can always resend my note, if it got lost somewhere

ah sorry, your note got through, but I've been meaning to send you a reply that i should probably stop.
the semester just started up and I'm running around university re-familiarizing myself with everything while trying to adjust to my new schedule.
with everything going on I'm having trouble finding time to even visit the group chat. So i'd like to put our RP on hold or start a new one at a later date for now. ^ ^

That's fine! My semester just started as well, so I totally understand. We can save it for a later date, when it works for you.

Hi! Moderator /u/QuintonFlynn from /r/MonsterHunter chiming in here. I'd really like to see your Angelic Devil on the bottom of the subreddit if you don't mind the extra attention. And if you are fine with the publicity, would you happen to have an original higher resolution copy for me to put up?
Thanks a bundle,
Q

i don't mind at all! You're more then welcome to use the picture for the MH subreddit. You can download the full resolution image here on DeviantArt, but the image in its entirety is only 1750 x 1310.
There is no larger version because if i had made it any bigger my current digital art program/computer would have had problems loading it. If you decide against using the image due to its resolution i understand, no worries. ^ ^

no problem! you have amazing talent, and i'm especially fascinated by your paleoart. ^ ^
i also have a question, what books or other media do you get your information from? with my recent graduation i can dedicate more of my time to paleonology studies and so i've been gathering an assortment of books on the subject.
π: 0 β©: 1
Kronosaurus82 In reply to weirdsketch [2013-06-21 10:12:18 +0000 UTC]
Thank you, pal.
Maybe someday I'll go back to paleoart, never say never. ^_^
About my references, at the time I made those books my co-author (who wrote the scientific part of the volumes) was a paleontologist, and he supported me a lot. But my personal references were just a few books, actually: Thomas Holtz's "Dinosaurs: The Most Complete, Up-to-Date Encyclopedia for Dinosaur Lovers of All Ages" gave me some useful infos, even if β by the way β this book got out when our books were almost finished; "The Kingfisher Illustrated Dinosaur Encyclopedia" because of its wonderful John Sibbick's paintings. But my most important source was "The Dinosauria - 2nd Edition", which got published in 2005, just in time for the beginning of our work on those volumes. That book is the very "dinosaurs bible", and allowed me to learn dinosaur anatomy and to know almost everything we knew for every genus at that time. Thanks to this, I almost entirely relied on skeleton photos β and sometimes drawings, mainly Greg Paul's and Scott Hartman's β from some books, but most of all from the internet.
The Dinosauria 2nd Ed. might be a bit outdated nowadays in some of its parts, but I still think it's the absolute "must have" for any kind of dinosaur scholar.
If what you want is to draw dinosaurs, what you absolutely must know is their anatomy, so get that "bible" and start to sweat, because it's about a thousand pages with very few bone drawings.
Moreover, if drawing is your objective, I would suggest you to find a copy of Greg Paul's skeletals book: it's a japanese publication, it's a bit outdated and it's almost impossible to find, but if you're lucky enough, don't miss it.
As a personal note, I would like to suggest you to not let yourself be confused by modern paleontology or by a sort of mythical idea of the paleontologist figure. A paleontologist is just a person who studied biology and dinosaur anatomy: learn those things, learn also about nowadays animals, and that's almost everything you need to know to be able to have your own idea of the mesozoic fauna. In recent years, philology and cladograms have become too much important in paleontology, in my opinion, and thus many silly theories have been made by paleontologist. What I'm trying to say is: don't trust everything you read about dinosaurs just because a paleontologist wrote it, but give yourself a way to think about dinosaurs and to really know them.
