Hey, I think you should check out the indie animation film "My Entire High School Sinking Into the Sea," if you haven't already.Β I think you'll like it.Β It's possible you may like it a lot.Β Being familiar with "The Poseidon Adventure (the original)," might make it even more enjoyable.

I feel like maybe I should watch The Poseidon Adventure, having looked it up. And this, having had it recommended just now.

You need to look up "Tito and the Birds."Β It's an animated film from Brazil (but, thankfully, dubbed into English).Β Very cool.

Seems genuinely interesting, but I'll probably never actually get around to it, like most movies people recommend to me. Still, thanks for the heads up, hopefully I follow through.

The story is good (bolder than an American film), but the art, man.Β The animated painting look has to be achieved with a computer assist, but even so, it's something very different from what one of the artists-in-a-can from any of the major studios would do with a computer.Β You have to respect the daring to look original.

There was a huge batch of "disaster" movies that came out of the 1970s.Β Towering Inferno, Airport (and Airport Whatever-Year-It-Was), Earthquake, The Swarm, and I remember them all, which must say something about the house I grew up in, but the best one was "The Poseidon Adventure."Β Which is still not to say that it was great cinema, but as a kid I thought it was awesome.Β I remember also enjoying the sequel, "Beyond the Poseidon Adventure," as a kid, but what I can remember makes me think it was a Cold War / Miami Vice on a capsized ship with lots of shooting, and I get a headache just thinking about how stupid that sounds.

I recently moved to the new apartment (should be my last move for a while) and my comics and notes are mostly all boxed up, or at least scattered. Not really set up for working right now either.
I'm hoping to work mostly on my third issue once they're out. I did do drawings for most of inktober, so once I can get to my scanner, I'll post those.

You did Inktober?Β I'm pretty impressed.Β I know one guy at Ink & Drink who did it.
Speaking of Ink & Drink, I met the first person I don't think I can get along with there.Β She is just so full of shit, I don't know how to express my thoughts in her vicinity.

I didn't finish inktober. I got up to around 25 drawings, the last few of which were horrible.
That sounds like fun. What variety of full of shit is she?

Well, she's the creator of a web-comic with a lot of followers, and she does conventions and has a portfolio full of commissions, so, you know, she KNOWS EVERYTHING there is to know about the industry, even though a bunch of her ideas and stories clearly have no basis in reality.

Oh, I'm sure you do.Β This woman (girl... xhe?) is something like 28, but she still acts like a college... person.Β She does draw some really cute cats though.
The art classes I attended in college were full of flamboyantly gay boys and jealous back-stabbers (mainly those two types, but sometimes they were the same type -- my most accomplished IRL art-friend tells me they were probably heroin addicts too).Β As soon as you removed someone from the class environment it was amazing how much hostility and resentment they showed towards each other.Β Made me sad.Β As I was not pursuing any sort of involvement in art at the time, I was probably a little immune to the scene.
