Hey Mr. G,
I just checked out all your recent work. Really great stuff!
I just got a job as an illustrator for a children's book and I'm writing/illustrating my own graphic novel right now so I've been doing a lot of art lately.
Hope all's well with you
-Jeff

Hey Jeff
So nice to hear from you.
Thanks for the praise on the latest work, a lot of it is for school. But I am still able to do some of my own twisted stuff every once in a while (have a few pieces going at once). The last I did totally for me was the 7 deadly sins series.
Ive been keeping an eye on your gallery as well and your work is really strong. I see your working a lot in digital formats, being an old school/traditional, get your hands dirty, artist, I hope your still doing at least some oil/acrylic painting.
Congrats on the illustration gig, its always nice to make money, however much, doing what you love. And the best of luck with your graphic novel, very ambitious!
keep sending me updates
G

Hows school? I miss having you as an art teacher but I am actually going to start taking a ceramics class here in a couple weeks and I am taking darkroom review which I am totally pumped for. My mom is mailing me my paper as I type this message and I can't wait to get back in the darkroom!
I hope your loving being fullltime again and not pulling your hair out. Are you teaching Adv Studies?

i really like what you've got started, i especially like how you've done gluttony and pride.
baha a retirement gift sounds reasonable that'd be ridiculously sad if i didn't have it done by then... but that's how it's looking like it's gonna be.
i haven't done watercolors that aren't a landscape since that project. but i do have watercolors... i never really thought of that (which is lame, wow) but i think that was part of the reason i didn't finish it, in my brain i didn't have the materials. even though i very clearly do.
thanks! feel free to give me critiques so i can keep making em better (a few individual ones would be amazing if/when you get the time )
i haven't seen you in... what, two years? i should visit school next time i'm home during school hours. are you still at that place which we shan't speak of?

maybe when I retire from teaching at the ripe old age of 85 it'll be done and it can be a retirement gift.
Saw the pics and didnt have a chance to make individual comments. You're framing up your shots really nicely, keep it up.
Here's the start to the deadly sins set. Im looking forward to working on it.

hey how are you? its been forever girl.
Same old here, still teaching high school art and loving it most days.
Yeah Ive kinda Jacked up the color. Mostly watercolor colored pencil mixes.
Whats new? Saw your new pieces your digital work has come a long way. Glad to see the traditional work is stronger than ever too. Love the little doll your figure is holding. Gonna fave it in a sec.

i still suck balls with digital, and I wanna quit on it, but I'm sure if I keep trying I'll get better. if i don't some people are gonna go missing.....
that's awesome you are doing more color though, and still having violent off pictures. Nice oximoron, colors for happy, but queer pictures for unsettling. How's Peanut (luv that guy)

bahhhhhhhh mr. g oh my goodness guess what.
kay i'll tell you.
i submitted a portfolio to three awards that you can get from my school (here i'll briefly explain them)
reid winsey - goes to one freshman. the freshman then gets $1200 for first semester sophomore year and then another $1200 second semester.
fritz smith - the school buys a painting/drawing from a student then it's hung in the library for basically eternity.
indiana craftsman - you get an award. i think it's monetary but i don't know how much.
okay so i had been getting these death glares/weird looks from my professors in the art department (who were on the jury) so i was like okay whatever, i didn't win anything. i went to go pick up my stuff from outside the secretary's office and she comes out and goes, 'no wait you can't take that one.' i frown and go, 'why?' and she's like, 'cause it won.'and i was like 'what? really?'
apparently i won the fritz smith and now they're buying it off of me for $600. HOW CRAZY IS THAT?! i was like holy smokelies that's a lot of money. anyways so it was the self-portrait still life... just in case you were wondering.
the end.
and how are you doing.

surreal32 In reply to pinkfaloyd [2009-04-16 01:36:12 +0000 UTC]
hey that's fantastic! Once again I am very proud of you!!! Quite an honor that your piece hangs at the school. And a self portrait so you can stare down all the other students for all of eternity.
I wish things were better over here, I don't have a full load of classes (too many other requirements like religeon, and art is low man on the totem pole). So basically they are slashing 1/3 of my salary. I'll sign the contract but I think its time to make the move to public. But art jobs in public schools are few and far between so while I want to leave next year I'll have to wait probably. Who knows maybe I'll get lucky, I would like to go to work without having to wear a tie

pinkfaloyd In reply to surreal32 [2009-04-16 13:53:39 +0000 UTC]
ouch that's a harsh cut, i'm sorry to hear that =\ good luck in your search for a public school job for sure.. let me know how that goes for you. yeah not having to wear a tie every day would certainly be an improvement for your taste
and thanks! yeah no i probably won't be staring down at them lol. that'd be creepy if there was a self-portrait down there (i haven't seen any...)
