# About me

What am I doing here? I'm not completely sure, I apprechiate art, but can't really draw myself.

But I like writing. So, you'll be more likely to find articles and stories here than drawings. Since I'm german, english is not my first language. Please feel free to correct any mistakes I made.

I'm interested in geography, history and politics, so my stories will mostly be about these topics. Occasionally, I'll also talk, especially in Journals, about how These Topics affect me personally and how I think about them.

I don't need core, and don't want it.

My political opinion: I support the European Union and the current government of my country. I would describe myself as center-left, or social democratic.

I tolerate both right-wing and left-wing opinions, and quickly lose patience when someone uses racist, homophob or general violent expressions. So, yes, either you manage to voice your opinion in a political correct manner or I will not take you seriously. I have no respect for people who claim to be political incorrect or against the mainstream just because they think it's cool, I'm not intersted in heated debates, I'm only interested in serious discussions. I will speak out against hate speech, and I'm not afraid to use methods like reporting or banning people if they try to spread inhuman views.

Also, a word about refugees: I know five of them. For you, they might just be unknown strangers, but before you write anything to me about them, know that for me, the ones I know are friends - and the unknown stranger, that is you.

The german constitution, Article 1:
(1): Human dignity shall be inviolable. To respect and protect
it shall be the duty of all state authority.

I've been reading your articles, and I think they're very good!

Do you think European millennials tend to be more bigoted than their parents? I've read a lot of articles claiming that most European millennials are conservative and that they hate Muslims. Is that true?

I find it interesting to get such a comment from someone who considers himself a republican. Thank you.

You are asking an interesting question. I don't think that the european youth is more bigoted than their parents, but I think I know where that impression comes from.

Recently, there was an election in the Netherlands. They have an anti-Islam Party there, the PVV, which got 13% of the votes in general, but according to surveys, between 21 and 27% of the young people (between 18 and 24) wanted to vote for that party.

This might easly be interpreted as the younger europeans hating Muslims (and being conservative, if you consider the PVV to be conservative).

But after the election, it turned out that only 3% of that age group actually had voted for the PVV.  The parties who got most votes from young people in that election, GL and D66, were promoting pretty much the opposite of the PVV's politics, but all three parties are currently in the opposition.

So I don't think that the european youth is generally conservative or that they hate Muslims.
What I think is that the european youth largely votes against the current ruling parties, and wants something to change. I know quite a lot of young people, including one of my Muslim friends, who think so, and from what I know, this is even more prevalent in other european countries than here in Germany.

That can mean they vote for an anti-Islam party, but isn't necessarily so. In Poland, students have been protesting a while ago, because they wanted something to change. The students at the place where I live also want change, but usually vote for the far left.

And how is it in America?

Thanks for the answer!

In America, it seems like the majority of youth lean left, often far-left. Many American youth have embraced political correctness, especially at universities, where there are hyper-liberal student unions that take offense to just about everything. You might have heard the term "social justice warrior" (or SJW for short), which has been used to describe people with regressive left-wing views.

However, there is a growing faction of young Americans who lean right, probably more now than there were 10-15 years ago. America is home to the alt-right, which is a (very vile) far-right political movement that mostly consists of people in their twenties, thirties, and early forties. The alt-right is not just anti-Islam, it hates everyone who isn't a straight white male. Although only a tiny minority of Americans are alt-right, they have a large presence on social media sites, especially Reddit.

Despite being Republican, I don't endorse Trump. I decided against voting since I didn't want to vote for either Trump or Hillary. I voted Republican in my state's governor election two years ago. I'm actually pretty liberal by Republican standards - I consider myself center-right. Ironically, I'd be considered somewhat old-school by that same token because the Republican Party was more moderate a few decades ago than it is today.

We really need to take care that we don't misunderstand each other, the political system in Germany is not like in the system in the US.

1.I don't think that something like the SWJ's exists in Germany. In my school, the students were not exactly sensitive when it came to words that could offend someone, and terms like "disabled", "victim" or "poor" were more or less commonly used as insults. I have the feeling that most people at the university are a bit more sensitive.

2. We have a far-right party that is called "Alternative for Germany". I assume that their name is a coincidence and not directly inspired by the american alt-right, but they are the only relevant pro-Trump party we have here. Their members are relatively old on average (their vice-president is one of our oldest politicans) but they also have a large presence on social media. I'm not sure how much they are comparable to the Alt-right, however. I have the feeling that the alt-right is not as ideological as some members of the AfD. Germany used to be ruled by national socialists and therefore there are ideological concepts among the far-right (regarding, for example, economic policy) that I think might not be as widespread in America.

I'm interested in the history of political parties, so I heard about the developement of the Republicans before. Bush and Reagan are republican presidents, and so was Eisenhower, but going back further in time, I won't be able to say what party Truman, Roosevelt (both of them) or Wilson belonged to.

I'm glad that not all Republicans support Trump. But I still don't understand why they made him their canidate and how he could become president.

Ogay, but you know EurAsian Union would just vassalise and annex the EUropean Union, why not be part of the bigger thing if we go full federalisaton ?

PS. Do you enjoy owning most of our press and media, harassing us with sanctions? Visegrad Group wouldn’t be your Jermonie puppet eternally . We can always come back and move the border further West the Elbe, like it was originally…

suedlich In reply to Ghost-MissingNo [2016-07-13 19:36:17 +0000 UTC]

Germany has no interest to sanction anyone from the Visegrad Group (and surely not Antartica, where you live according to your profile. Thank you, you amuse me) and I'd rather prefer my country not doing it, but countries usually are not particulary glad if someone fails to follow international treaties. Other countries would also impose sanctions on Germany if Germany would turn into a dictatorship or threaten to annex parts of Poland that used to belong to Germany. So choose your words carefully.

Also, Visegrad group should perhaps order itself before blaming Germany. Hungary wants to stop sanctions against Russia completely, Poland had that military maneuver - with its attempt to impose sanctions on Russia and keep talking, Germany is actually moderate. And during the refugee crisis, every country worked for itself anyway. So where does Germany try to make Visegrad group its puppet?

Furthermore, from an economical or demographical viewpoint, the Eurasian Union is much smaller than the European Union - the EU has even without Britain around 450 million people and a GDP around 17 trillion. The Eurasian Union has around 170 million people and a GDP around 2,5 trillion. That Russia is geographically bigger than the EU is not exactly relevant in politics. Don't get me wrong, I like the Eurasian Union and regard it as a compliment that someone thinks the concept of the EU is successful enough to be worth imitation. But the EU joining the Eurasian Union - that would be as weird as America being annexed by Canada. Sure it will happen? As I said, I don't have the feeling you know what you're talking about. Also, Russia is not really democratic, and I'd wish for this to change, but I can't force it. And countries that are not democratic can not participate

You'll probably not believe in the latter argument, since you also believe I own most of your press and media. In what country do you live? From what I heard, not all countries of the Visegard-group have media that shows Germany in a good light - if Germany controlled most of your media, would it not have done a bad job if you knew this anyway?

You do know that people can seek alternative media out, especially if they are on the internet.

Well, it seems like he already got reported! Me so happy about that: I honestly felt terrified whenever I even noticed him at least since he despised people from my country rather severely...

I think he was banned because I reported him. I understand you feel terrified, I felt very uncomfortable, too. May I ask what country you're from?

Ah, yeah, I honestly constantly feel uncomfortable when being near nationalists/extremists even if they are just skinheads from my country: I once had a misfortune to go by bus with a real skinhead who had a swastika tattoo on his chest... Ooooooph that was creepy. And I am afraid if you learn what my nationality is, you will tell me to burn in hell or something like that since my country has a terrible reputation among other nations. X'D I wish I were German: I love Germany...

I always think Germany has a negative reputation among other nations. Perhaps we should continue this per note? (I have the feeling we're discussing in some commentaries at the same time now).

Germans and Russians are pretty similar at this point, to be honest. And if you feel more comfortable chatting via Notes, then okay, I am not against, although I have to warn you I am feeling sleepy now so I may fall asleep soon.

Okay, it is currently ruining their economy, Scotland is already trying to become independent and Northern Ireland is thinking about becoming part of Ireland, so I have my doubts that Britain will manage to leave and stay in one piece.

But if they want to, they can leave, since the is not a dictatorship. God bless Britain, however they decide.
