# About me
I have always loved to draw and paint since I was a child. From my early teens onwards my work with pencil and brush was a small source of side income for me until the late nineties I put painting aside for other things.Then, nearly 20 years later in 2016 I found myself in hospital, in a life critical situation battling a rare illness. I decided at that time, I promised myself, that if I lived and recovered I would take up painting again, and endeavour to bring a little beauty and healing into my own life, and for whomever finds resonance with it.
And so now that is what my work is about. Not just to paint beautiful things, but to work with symbol, and light, and colour, in a way that has spiritual meaning, that speaks to the deeper aspects of our unconscious world, and to our heart.... to remind us of the beauty in life, and to heal the spirit.
Whilst in hospital, a cancer patient said to me “If there is someone... or a way you are wanting to be, or if there is anything that you need to do in your life, then do it now. You only have so much time.”
And so with every day, I am thankful for the opportunity to live, and to live as beautifully as I know how to. :)
