That's great. I too was working on games; motion capture actually in a prominent UK company before it shut down. Now doing some drawings to help pass the time while I search for a new job.

Many people must have complimented your contributions to bringing Lovecraft's work to life. And I'm no different when I say that Dark Corners Of The Earth was a criminally underrated and fantastic game. I've clocked 60 hours on the Steam version and plan to make it a hundred by playing the game once on each difficulty setting.
The early hours of the game are absolutely chilling, with some great tense moments when you're being chased down by Elliot Ropes and Nathan Birch, the officers that make up the Innsmouth P.D.
I can understand why the sequel Destiny's End didn't get developed and why Bethesda severed the contract with the studio (lack of sales no doubt) but I'm sure it would have been a fantastic game.
I've checked out your Linkedin profile and it says you're working at Splash Damage studios. Cool. They're known for their first-person shooters, a different market indeed.
Russian developer Frogwares who are known for their Sherlock Holmes games are planning on making a new Call Of Cthulhu title. Chances are they'll take inspiration from your work. So the torch lives on and is still burning bright.
Best Regards
Remember. The Innsmouth law never forgets...

thanks for your kind comments, I love 'criminaly underated' as a turn of phrase
Yeah I am aware of the Frogwares working on a Call Of Cthulhu game, I am watching the news hawkishly, it feels kind of weird, seeing someone else work on it, lots of conflicting feelings.
Β I often think what we could have done on modern hardware using for example an editor like Unreal 4, but sadly we'll never know, but I always knew someone would pick up the torch. In a way the people who made 'amnesia', 'penumbra overture' and now 'machine for pigs' can also be considered our spiritual successors, at least one of the founders, Thomas Grip used to be an active participant on our forums back in the day and their style of horror continues some of the more successful elements of COCdcote such as the HUDless interface.
After all my years in the video games industry it seems that quite often some of the best games I work on are the ones that become vapourware, and not releasing 'Destiny's end' is one of those that I am still sad about, I think it would have been on of the best looking titles on the PS2, and another one 'Necessary force' I worked on at Midway had such a promising concept, it makes me sad to think about it. Oh Well. Anyway, hearing from somenone that they enjoyed a game I worked on really is great, thank you very much

I don't know how much of Dark Corners of The Earth you really worked on, but I want you to know, that I love that game to death, and I'm so glad it exists.

To make the sentiment behind the game even more, I found it in the basement under a pile of old belongings at some family friends house who live out in the country, and having never seen the game before that, finding the 2005 receipt in the case making it so much more intriguing, like a secret locked away, and knowing Giger's artwork revolving around Lovecraft's creations, I got this overwhelming sense I was about to enter another dimension when I played it, and the chase scene when you sleep at the inn had my heart racing, one of the greatest experiences I've ever had in a game!

that is awesome, even finding the game in spooky circumstances, like a forbidden tome, good story
