Hello dear Sharon, I've been absent again, but whittling down my responsibilities here on dA so that I can come here and *enjoy* myself once more instead of only feeling obligated to do a heap of things and not have fun.  They don't pay me enough to be working against my will

My dear Daughter-in-Law just introduced me to 'mermaid afghan rug tails', have you seen them?  I've found an adult pattern or a newborn pattern for free but not one for the 9 and 6 year olds that I want to make for so I'm going to have to wing it.  I was just on YouTube looking up Crocodile Stitch as a start.  Thought I'd tell you about them because I can just see you loving to make one for your daughter (if not other people as well).

OH my goodness, look at the date on your message. I can't believe I've been gone this long!

I have been so wrapped up in other things, I've managed to neglect my DA account, whoops!

Oh well, I'm here now and I'm so happy to read your comments and message, thank you!

I have seen the mermaid tail afghans, I've shared a link to one on my facebook not so long ago. They are beautiful for sure. I would have loved to make one when my daughter was smaller. Maybe one day when all my other projects are caught up I'll give one a try!

That's completely OK dear Sharon - you're talking to another who waits ages between visits here.  I spent too long doing 8 or more hours a day on here as life passed me by.  All that inspiration and none of it put into practice  But my husband has suddenly joined my miniatures group and become obsessed and he has me back in the saddle working on my next project.  I'm going to be making a huge number of flowers to decorate 2 different garden gazebos that I purchased.  One is white metal filigree - so pretty.  The other is a larger wooden kit that I'm about half way through painting.  Oh my goodness, all the wooden fret work with so many nooks and crannies - originally varying shades of brown so it's taking a bit of convincing to turn white  I love my acrylic paints though.

The wool I originally wanted to use changed colour from blue to purple to pink to green, and had tiny flecks of sequin attached regularly so it made it look like water sparkling in the light on the tail.  But that would have cost about AU$70 each just for the wool and I don't have that as pocket change  So I have 2 shades of green and the tails are coming along steadily.  I'm doing them both at once so I don't finish one and dread starting the next  About 1/3rd of the way through them so far and the evenings are starting to get chilly but the days are still sunny and warm

I understand.. there was a time a couple years ago that I joined pinterest and the same thing happened to me.. I kept pinning and pinning all these cool projects I found but never gave them a 2nd look nor did I do any!
But I did manage to waste a bunch of time and my butt grew a little.  So I quit that completely. I never browse pinterest but I do have my own account where I pin free patterns and that's all I allow myself to do, lol

Wow, I'm so happy for you that your husband has joined you in miniatures, that's exciting! It's always such a nice thing to have another set of ideas and hands and eyes and the enthusiasm too!!

Right now I'm working on a monster book for my youngest son.. I'm actually almost done, I'm just gluing on fur. I made teeth and eyes with a polymer clay recipe I found online and wow it is awesome!!! I'll give you the link to the ladies site just in case you ever need clay to work with. .. really fun and very cool! I dried everything in the oven and then painted with acrylics. Talk soon!!

oh.. I had to go look, haha I forgot. There's part 7 then after that I did a quick update showing the mushrooms including Ukki the Grandfather Mushroom. And the last video I did is just the tutorial showing how I made the regular mushrooms. I have them all in a playlist in the order I uploaded them right here www.youtube.com/playlist?list=…

Thank you Sharon, it's looking so good!  I saw ET too, but it's exactly how a snail *should* look.  And it was wonderful to hear your daughter laughing too.

awwww, thank you!! That's not the best update video, so rushed but I decided to use since it had my daughter laughing and I thought somebody will enjoy it regardless and see, I was right
And thanks, ET is fun.. I'll be making him a saddle sometime this year!
