I am a photographer based in Cornwall and Devon, UK. I specialise in a few different forms but mostly find myself doing product photography, portraits, parties and small events.I currently work freelance although have a few jobs in the works alongside. I am building my portfolio all the time and experimenting with new techniques. I like to think I'm not afraid to change the way I work to better myself.

Hey darlin, yeah I dont post much anymore, i still check other people stuff but, honestly DevArt has become a bit of a pile of crap now, its just all people posting porn, its more or less a blog for morons rather than an art site. So I am still around, I check more or less every day usually but Im not bothering to put stuff up.

He is epic right? Its some amazing stuff, he is an aerospace engineer or something now though so his photo load has really slowed, its a mega shame, but it makes you happier when an awesome one pops up.

Yeah !! I would just like to quickly ask though - how do you get the background of your pictures so crisp? I have been looking into buying myself a little put up studio type thing but my mum wouldn't let me get it because of how expensive it was - didn't know if you had any alternatives for when you do profile shots of people

Any photo in particular? Show me one that you mean and i will do my best to tell you. If its landscapes, I use some ND filters to enable a longer shutter speed, which means nice big apertures can be used to get depth of field without losing any cool water motion or whatever by having a shorter shutter speed.

Yeah - I meant the ones of the people. Some friends have aske me to do shoots like that for them and I would really like to get the same background sort of effect - Like the plain white background ones you have done

Well assistance there is trickier, I do them in my studio, which is a 20x20 foot infinity cove and theyre surrounded by ceiling rail mounted elinchrom lights...
BUT, DESPAIR NOT... I HAVE A SOLUTION.
when I was in uni and all of the studios where booked, we used to hang a big clean white bedsheet up in a spare room or bedroom, against a big wardrobe works well.... Then we clothes pegged it out and used one or two free standing lights to light the background and another 2 to light the subject. Works really well, then you crispen it and get it true-white in photoshop. You usually only have to choose to edit say... 20 photos out of 150, so its quick once you get the trick down. I have a quick fix that sorts out white backgrounds.

Good, you will need some lights, my portable standalone lights are simple things, a pack of two was £200, uncluded umbrella, light boxes, diffusers, stands, everything you could need, cables... everything. Jessops sell them.

Apartment, not house, but yeah it is lush. Nice and spacious, I've got a proper desk aswell, ALTHOUGH... It's messy as hell lol.
Work is good at the moment, I work for a firm that sells photographic equipment and I give advice to colleagues and customers, I am also doing some commission work for news channels and designers. Working on a few websites at the moment for a company, pays quite well considering I just do it on my days off.
Anyways, enough bout me, what on ever have you been upto? x

Sounds good, I'm about to buy a 4-14mm panoramic fish eye lens, with macro capabilities... its costing me... wait... a mere $20.

You need a Digital SLR. and... If you lived in this country, I would take you shopping and make sure you don't get conned, best bet is to buy a Nikon, they are excellent beginners cameras... Either a D3000 or the slightly older D60 or D70.
The best bit is that all the cameras are really exactly the same, so you can get away with one of the cheaper ones and it will do everything the ones that cost like a grand will... You can pick up one of those three for around $400. Which is peanuts for a D-SLR...
Mine cost the equivelant of $2000 and I've got about $12,000 worth of lenses and accessories.
Try and find something like that... and THEN you can start taking great photos!
