Hey, I wanted to know if you have a link or can explain how to change your status bar icons. I've seen various forum posts about finding framework.apk and renaming it to framework.zip and going from there but not entirely sure where to start.

Hoping you can help.

mmtnns In reply to nokimonsta [2011-07-04 14:33:32 +0000 UTC]

hey man, it's different from rom to rom but to be as basic as possible...

if you're on gingerbread, the signal, 3g, and wifi stuff is in /system/app/systemui.apk what you do is decompile it or just extract it using apk manager... then find the icons you want to replace (/res/drawable-hdpi), swap em out (just make sure they're all named correctly). once you're done you can rezip/compile and adb push it to your phone.

then the battery stuff is in system/framework/framework-res.apk.. do the same. you'll find them in res/drawable hdpi.

Hope this helps man... I'm not aware of any specific threads, i just did the same thing as you and asked others the help me

nokimonsta In reply to mmtnns [2011-07-05 22:35:22 +0000 UTC]

One more question. Can you give me a bit more details on the battery mod? I navigated to system/framework/framework.apk , extracted it and got into the res folder but I'm not sure about the battery icon.

I only see battery background and I want to give the 'traffic light' battery a try. Any tips as to how to locate the correct battery png or is there something I'm missing?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mmtnns In reply to nokimonsta [2011-07-06 11:20:18 +0000 UTC]

Well you see, there are many battery png's, as it is with signal and 3g. IE stat_sys_battery_10 stat_sys_battery_20 etc etc, each number corresponds to the percentage of battery left. So if you have a 5% battery increment, you need to make 40 images; 20 for normal and 20 for charging.

Hope this helps..

hwy how do you update roms im on miui 1.6.10b and a new one came . do i just just out the rom on the sdcard and flash the new version

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mmtnns In reply to jinx188 [2011-06-22 00:02:42 +0000 UTC]

It doesn't matter if you keep it on your sd card, that's just a storage place for the .zip. It really doesn't matter. Just wipe data and cache and install it like every rom

mmtnns In reply to jinx188 [2011-06-17 23:13:27 +0000 UTC]

yes. That's how I install every rom. I don't go back to stock or anything, usually wiping data and cache does the trick.

mmtnns In reply to jinx188 [2011-06-17 19:29:01 +0000 UTC]

thats a big no no man, never flash a rom on top of a rom without wiping.

You can do it, but wipe data and cache first.

1.) Wipe data\Factory reset
2.) Wipe Dalvik and Cache Partition
3.) Format-Data,cache and system
4.) Flash Energy 2/3
5.) Fix Permissions
6.) Reboot
7.) Let settle for 6 minutes
8.) Reboot
9.) Enjoy!

when it says let deivce sit for six minutes does he mean just turn the screen on and let it sit or just leave it as is

question when on miui do you have to put your apps on the internal sd or a external microsd mine wont recognize my mini sd card

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mmtnns In reply to jinx188 [2011-06-12 02:14:18 +0000 UTC]

I always keep it on my internal storage... then use the miui back up feature to back them up so you can easily restore them when upgrading.
