You can never rush art, so even though you may have taken longer, that doesn't mean that you're technique is wrong.
And besides like you said, you literally just started. It takes time and practice.
I can tell you though for someone who has just started out, you're doing very well.

Well being patient is key.
You have to pace yourself and pay close attention to every detail. Because after all, its the detail that truly makes a picture stand out.

Once i start i don't stop until it's finished and it usually takes me around 3 hours.
Also, i finish requests usually within 3 days.

does drawing get faster with practice? because I'm pretty sure mine took at least 8 hours and it still sucks I didn't really know what I was doing at first, though, so it took really long to get started (started trying faces on Tuesday, started portrait on Friday, yeah, probably a bad idea ).
