Yeah, I too had left deviantART at some point... but I looked at your stats, and you've been here longer than most deviants For most of my tim here, I've been stuck in my own world - making images, submitting images, commenting to images... and started to spend a bit more time in the board. There's a lot of issues and complexities with deviantART... I guess one of the them is the issue of popularity and trends. Pageviews - I'm so annoyed at pageviews, it's influencing me badly. Another issue is reviving a deviantART mag. I guess people have complained and suggested a lot of stuff - from the absurd (the overuse of ) to the serious... I guess so long as you don't get caught up with the wrong kinds of issues and keep on writing \

Thanks so much for the comment on my gallery I'm not saying this to 'repay' back to you, but I love your wordplay in your written works. I guess it may be just this natural flair and being able to observe in a different perspecitve. I salute you!

i know i've been here ages (story of my life)

i joined on a whim, and thats pretty much been the reasons for my return. dev art is something i try to make a go of(like learning french, trying to learn the bass guitar, finally writing that book/play, learning corset making, all the plans that one has yet never brings to fruition)

i would like to suceed this time, although i see more of a social context rather than a creative one. i've not written in ages. (bad bad boy!)

i do like the boards. but i do get frustrated by the american teenagers who write the same thing 100 times turning an interesting vein of comment into a laborious trudge.

(can you expalin pageviews to me, i don't undertsand what they are?)

but then again, we should pity them, those poor people can't help where they're born.

thanks for appreciation. sometimes one does feel that one has to asay something positive. not ever a bad thing as long as you are being truthful. hollow compliments should be saved up for when you are face to face and need them the most. not for squandering online!

Nothing much exists outside the deviantART walls, well, the information that I would give out about myself I love poetry, photography, art, people...

For pageviews, yes it is annoying me.. if only there's a function to get rid of them, or at least, hide them from my view. I guess it influences some people - people obsess about pageviews, they may think that pageview equals real talent... Pageviews in not only in the user's main page, but in deviations as well. Had to get my mind around that and I have to be aware of it. Don't worry ~mascaraboy I pretty much have nearly stopped giving out 'forced' compliments. If I can't make one - I might as well do it constructively.

Polari
Polari (also seen as 'Palare') is a gay slang language, which has now almost died out. It was more common in the 1960's when gays had more need of a private slang. When I started to research Polari, it was difficult to find any written material about Polari as what little used to exist was out of print. However, in the last few years, more and more people have been finding out about it, and several web sites and magazine articles have been written.

Polari featured heavily in the "Julian and Sandy" sketches on the BBC radio program "Round the Horne" in the late 60s, and this is how a lot of people first heard of Polari. A few words like 'bona' can still be seen in gay publications, used for camp effect. There are even hairdressers in London and Brighton called "Bona Riah".

Polari itself was never clearly defined: an ever-changing collection of slang from various sources including Italian, English (backwards slang, rhyming slang), circus slang, canal-speak, Yiddish and Gypsy languages. It is impossible to tell which slang words are real Polari.

In London, there was a West End dialect, based on theatre-speak, which was posher than the East End dialect, based on canal/boat-speak.

Here is a list of words I have put together from various sources. The core of the words are hopefully "authentic" Polari, but some will be just "any old" slang. Additions welcome.
