I don't celebrate Christmas, I actually find it very stupid, so I don't mind that it's in Summer. I once had a signature here to mock Christmas, but I don't remember what it said.

I intend to spend my Summer vacation at home playing computer games, and never getting in contact with the ridiculously hot tropical Summer. I hate it.

ShaolinAssassin In reply to mairazl [2011-12-02 20:20:17 +0000 UTC]

I dont celebrate christmas in a religious way, for me
it's more a pretext to gather family, and spend some
good time with people I usually cant see at same time.

Well, nice plan for summer, especially if weather is hot
(how many if I can ask? Im someone curious ) No travel?
You could avoid the weather that way

I also hate my family so I see no point at all in Christmas.
(At this point you must have realized that I hate almost everything apart from my electronics!)

Summer here in Brazil gets as hot as 40Β°C. It's awful.

How cold is it where you live? Buy me the tickets and I'll go there right now!! hehehe

I truly understand about themes ripped , it's something that really
made me sick. But from time I use a flash intro in them,
I dont care about it anymore.

I'm a math teacher at a public school (which sucks, I HATE it) and I'm an English teacher at a private school (this job I love).
I taught myself all my computer skills including programming and Photoshop, they're not work related, just hobbies.

How about you, sweetie?

BTW, I'm 26 and you?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ShaolinAssassin In reply to mairazl [2011-08-13 07:50:59 +0000 UTC]

Nice to know more about you, honey!

I'm 27 years old. Im currently working in a high school, but it's only a job for student. I'm trying to be a french teacher, after 3 (failing) attemps at being a philosophy teacher. It would be to work in public school. Well, I must say it's kinda hard in France to be teacher, I dont know how hard it is in Brazil, but I would never imagine it to be so difficult.

So photoshopping is a hobby for me too

Can I ask what you hate exactly? Teaching math, or having to teach in public school?

Have a good day dear, hun!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mairazl In reply to ShaolinAssassin [2011-08-13 21:17:49 +0000 UTC]

If you think it's hard to be a teacher in France, you have no idea what it is like here in Brazil! It's hell! The students have no respect for each other, for the teachers, or for learning. They go to school to cause trouble. They graduate high school with the same amount of knowledge you'd expect from a 10 year old kid.

Private schools are a little better than public schools. That's what causes social inequality here: if you're born in a family with money you have chances to be successful as an adult. Otherwise, don't expect the government to care about you and provide you with quality education.

I love math and I thought this would be the job of my life but I was wrong.

But, wow! I've said too much! I hope things are better for you, seriously! I know nothing of French, but I do love Philosophy!

Hope you have a good day!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ShaolinAssassin In reply to mairazl [2011-08-14 19:26:18 +0000 UTC]

No, you did not say too much, it's nice to have some more elaborated discussions.

Well, unfortunately, I regognize how french education is now in your words. It's quite the same here. Some years ago, a teacher was respected, it's not the case anymore. That's a part of why I'm not sure I dont want to be a teacher. But I've been formed to be one, so I dont see what else I could do. School really changed from when we was pupils, dont you think? I did not know it was also the case in other countries. Do you have some ideas about the reason? I must admit that I dont understand why.

Can I ask you how old are you pupils?

It's nice talking with you dear Maira (if you dont mind)

Have a lovely day!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mairazl In reply to ShaolinAssassin [2011-08-15 04:24:51 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I'm also impressed to know that you face a similar condition!

You're right, when I was a pupil we respected the teachers, but it's
changed for the worse now. My only guess to why this happens is that
children today don't have limits, they aren't taught the value of
discipline, respect and honesty as we were, only 20 years ago. Today,
children grow to do as they please, to have everything their way.
Staying put in a chair and paying attention to an adult is too much for
them.

I teach 11 year old kids, this is 5th grade here, and 17 year old
teenagers, who are in the last year of high school.

This conversation is changing my perspective on my job and on education
in general! Thank you!

See you soon! Have a great week!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ShaolinAssassin In reply to mairazl [2011-08-15 20:28:37 +0000 UTC]

I totally agree with you dear. It's exactly what I was pointing. But I often asked myself why such change in pupils - & young people in general - is it because of parents? of society? And why does it happen in others countries so? I thought it was only in France... I really don't know. And Im affraid for future.

Good luck with your pupils, they are maybe not the easier ones with their ages.

Is private school a lot developped in Brazil?

Thank you Maira (is it your real name btw?) Have a great week too

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mairazl In reply to ShaolinAssassin [2011-08-16 22:48:21 +0000 UTC]

I was talking about this with my sister (she's also a teacher), and she
believes that parents today have kids as hobbies, or pets! They work all
day and don't really care about their kids education. They give a
computer, a cell phone, a video game to their kids, and think they're done
with educating them, they don't really talk with their kids, and don't
care about what they do at school. I think it summarizes modern society...

About your question, private schools are better than public schools.
Pupils of private schools learn things that a pupil of a public school
would never dream of studying! If I ever had a kid I would certainly have
him or her study at a private school!

Yes, my first name is Maira! I believe yours is Gaetan, right?

See you soon dear friend!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ShaolinAssassin In reply to mairazl [2011-08-18 16:38:28 +0000 UTC]

Yes, mine is Gaetan And you can call me
Gaetan, I wouldnt mind.

I must say you made me laugh with what you sister
thinks about it. Do you share her point of view?

Well, maybe now parents have differents expectations
from school. They maybe wait that school rises, and
not only educates as it was before, the children.
But Im not sure it's a good solution.

Question about private/public school is very difficult
for me to answer. I like the idea of a public school,
where every child, no matter where he is from - middle
class society, privileged ones, or poor ones - ,
as the same luck as the others to have a education good
enough to start in life. Private schools only makes them
even more differents & for the worse for low class.
Science should be power, not money.
But well, Im aware that's just words, and if I had too
choose myself, I dont know what I would do.
For now, public school in France is still good enough IMO

Hugs & kisses dear

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mairazl In reply to ShaolinAssassin [2011-08-19 23:46:55 +0000 UTC]

Hey Gaetan!

Yeah, I think my sister is right in her opinion!

If parents expect schools to raise their kids, society is going to get
worse and worse, because teachers are interested only in teaching their
subject!

In my country, only rich kids who go to private schools have any
chance! Public schools are not "good enough" as you say French schools
are...

Next year I'm going to dedicate to teaching in the private school I
already work at, and teach only two groups in the public school.
Otherwise I'm going crazy!

Hugs and kisses!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ShaolinAssassin In reply to mairazl [2011-08-21 21:58:37 +0000 UTC]

Hey dear Maira

I mostly agree with you, it's not up to teachers to raise children. But I
can see that in France, teachers get more and more responsibilities no
so much related to school.

I was happy choosing to be teacher of philosophy,
cause I only would have 17-18 years old pupils, so a bit mature I assume.
But being philosophy teacher is too hard (only 35 places for 800 people
each year), so I failed. I had to get ready to do the police if I can be French
teacher

Good to know you can focus more in private school. Sometimes, I ask myself how
some teachers dont get mad

Did you study in private or public school?

Kiss you my dear Maira
I enjoy talking with you

mairazl In reply to ShaolinAssassin [2011-08-23 01:48:41 +0000 UTC]

Hi friend!

Not many people are interested in Philosophy here, so it would be easier here to be a Philosophy teacher.

Can you believe I actually studied at the same public school I'm working at now?!?! It's true! hehe But it's a lot worse now (obviously)!

Kisses for you sweetie! I also enjoy talking with you!

That's true! I'd forgotten that you'd need to learn Portuguese!

It's not really a coincidence, I chose it to be like this, I wanted to teach at the school I studied...

The teachers I had don't work there anymore, but the lady that controls pupils during brake time is the same!! It's funny!! She used to be mad at me, now we're co-workers!

I added you on Facebook, we can talk there now, if you want.
