Hey I love mage
and all the other WoD games out there, I storytell most of my groups WoD games. I'm actually doing some NWoD lately but still have OWoD games running. Our Ascension game has had some pretty spontaneous encounters like a spiritual Tsunami that got all the characters stuck on an uncharted Bermuda island now the character have to find there way off the island before the curses and gifts destroy them, and before they run out of time, as a vampire is holding an PC's loved one to get back an old grudge. Well it's so kool to find other gamers! Chookas

Hey, Awakening came, and everybody forgota about Ascension. If i were more of a wise-ass i would create an atlantean Awakening club, or sth.. But that would be too damn annoying...

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

hiryu-kaga In reply to MacKotek [2007-01-09 14:30:13 +0000 UTC]

Not everyone forgot about Ascension. There are still some hard-assed, hard-headed fans out there. Me, for example.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

MacKotek In reply to hiryu-kaga [2007-01-10 10:43:59 +0000 UTC]

Bah... That's you, and who else? Too little... Awakening will eat you.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

hiryu-kaga In reply to MacKotek [2007-01-10 13:25:08 +0000 UTC]

No need to get excited, man.

I have my reasons not to like nWoD. You have your reasons to like it. So be it.

OK?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

MacKotek In reply to hiryu-kaga [2007-01-11 12:40:42 +0000 UTC]

I'm not excited. I just... Well, i'd like you to read it, play, and then make an opinnion.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

hiryu-kaga In reply to MacKotek [2007-01-11 14:04:33 +0000 UTC]

Sorry, I just don't find the "Atlantis" idea interesting nor innovative. Ascension at least tried to incorporate various magical ideas from around the world...

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

MacKotek In reply to hiryu-kaga [2007-01-13 08:34:46 +0000 UTC]

Awakening is about a world that has one True Way... At least that's what you see...

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

hiryu-kaga In reply to MacKotek [2007-01-14 11:05:56 +0000 UTC]

...which, in terms of creativity, means that the charatcers are limited and have to accept a shared view of reality.

Ascension is about finding one's own way. Even when a character shares a part of his life with others, they try to do so without compromising their beliefs. Even "Traditions", "Conventions" and so on are just there to group together people with similar outlooks, not those with an absolutely identical ones (although Conventions try to).

From my point of view, "Awakening" is a Technocratic device to stamp out the individualism allowed in "Ascension".

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

MacKotek In reply to hiryu-kaga [2007-01-14 16:28:42 +0000 UTC]

Which in terms of creativity means most people won't have to, cause they want it already done by someone else. That's the Awakening way.
What do you loose, if you step out of the Atlantean circle? Rote skills, and community support.

Ascension gave too much freedom, and they couldn't even patch a lame Paradigm together. Most of them, that is. Just like the cause of Malkavians, which weren't lunatics, like they were. Children with teddy bears, stupid pseudo-religious freaks... Lame. =='
Well, as for Traditions, look into it. Try the Order of Hermes. It had it's Houses, but as a Tradition it was as strict and organized, as any of the Orders from Awakening. Similiar cases? Akashic Brotherhood, Euthanatos... There were some exceptions, but... Who says there aren't any in Awakening? What would you say about Legacies?
And the Technocracy has it's dividing lines, but they're blurry too. Take the Syndicate, for example, or Progenitors. Htey have branches, but every one IS, what he shouldn't be - different.

From my pointo of view, Awakening has a good rule system. Which Ascension lacks. What are Rotes, or Rituals in Ascension? Awakening puts magic into forms forged by Atlantis, because it has dominated over the whole world, and even the Fall didn't end that domination. Yes, if the Union would win, it would look similiar...
And - in Awakening Ascension isn't a myth, and the Cosmology is working...

Blaquesmith [2006-11-09 11:36:42 +0000 UTC]

This is a little dead, isn't it? =.=U

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 0

MacKotek [2006-10-21 08:38:36 +0000 UTC]

Anyway, what about Awakening? Seems like Ascension is being forgotten.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

wtfuguys In reply to MacKotek [2009-01-30 09:29:04 +0000 UTC]

Awakening is a dissapointment. It's dull, uninspired, and worse, it's EXPECTED. There's nothing there that couldn't be done in Ascension except decentrlization and the 5X5 fetishism.

There's a few high points, like the occasional glimmer of something that might have been interesting. But by and large, it's about as worthwhile as huffing Jenkem; sure it'll get you high but there's better ways to do it without the aftertaste the atlantis/supernal sewage.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

MacKotek In reply to wtfuguys [2009-01-30 17:46:07 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah... Sure. We're just wrong not seeing things your way.
Me, and all the other Awakening players who want some reason in the setting, archetypes and Rotes that actually do something and magic rules, that work.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

wtfuguys In reply to MacKotek [2009-02-13 15:56:00 +0000 UTC]

I smell the reek of supernal butthash on this one...

Anyone need 'little' Maruder? He just destroy few Technocracy constucts and have cute pets like small dragons, medium dragons, large dragons, XXL dragons even one celestinal dragon - most powerfull kind due to newest editon of Bygone bestiary and have one familar with bad attitude (She dosen't tolerate any rival ) . He likes to pait anythink into flowers color. If yes just yell bani Tremere...Buahahahahahaha....(ach ta moja astma...)

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 0

MacKotek In reply to Ormael [2006-10-21 08:37:46 +0000 UTC]

Lame munchkin...
Come up with a good idea for a Marauder, or get beaten by Technocracy.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Ormael In reply to MacKotek [2006-11-18 15:46:21 +0000 UTC]

Not lame munchkin but proud from been munchkin And it was only to catch anyone attention.

Anyway what you think about that idea: He can use change into all nonhuman forms taht any Garou can. Additionaly can stepside and talk with beings from other side of Gaunlet. His remember only two last years and since then he always stick with Garou and help fight with Wyrm just like one of them.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

MacKotek In reply to Ormael [2006-11-18 15:53:41 +0000 UTC]

More lame even. Sorry for being honest, but Marauders are a little more than that. Try something original.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Ormael In reply to MacKotek [2006-11-18 17:56:04 +0000 UTC]

And you still talking the same. Point where I mentioned that he's Maruder.......probably you can't because I don't write it. Do you want to say that every mage with memory loss Is Maruder? Wake up...or I should say 'awaken' so maybe you understand that even my GM isn't that much...

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

MacKotek In reply to Ormael [2006-11-19 08:04:55 +0000 UTC]

Read it, damn it. I said - find your own way. Not one of the lamest ones (Dragon master? Sounds stupid. Wannabe Garou? Old and lame.), but your own. A guy that travels through power lines, drinks literal voltage, and find himself a higher stage of being, for example. There are good examples in books, videos, and other games. Just look for it.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Ormael In reply to MacKotek [2006-11-19 13:30:04 +0000 UTC]

So you call it lame? No more lame that your electroman. Listening someone like you make me think that all of you here are so 'evolved'

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

MacKotek In reply to Ormael [2006-11-19 15:52:46 +0000 UTC]

I mean, i've seen those dragon and pseudo-garou ideas like a dozen times, or more. It's just a munchkin idea. A Marauder has tho have a Mad Paradigm. Without it, it's just a power-play puppet.
And by the way, Marauders are not suitable for Player Characters. Too powerful, too mad, too unstable, too unpredictable... Too dangerous.
Soooo... Keeping this in mind, that "electroman" is not "my character". It's an idea, which i had at that moment. I play a voodooistic TechnoShaman from Ghost Wheeel Society, Dreamspeaker fraction. It's enough for me. I don't have to be a paradox-immune mobile havoc.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Ormael In reply to MacKotek [2006-11-19 18:24:10 +0000 UTC]

Only guilty explain himself so Don't deny. Because I don't belive you anymore...and you forget to add too difficult to understand and too play or you haven't meet right GM to ever dream about this so I could only feel pity for you. It was meantion that with some luck player can play maruder and fit good enough to be part of game. It's only of matter of Player and his GM. But what could I say you are too much Pattern to understand. So go back to play with your Techonotoys and leave reality to more dynamic mages...

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

MacKotek In reply to Ormael [2006-11-20 09:51:15 +0000 UTC]

It's not guilt. You didn't get it, so i'm explaining. Keep your pity for someone else, kid. If it's the GM we're speaking, a good one wouldn't even consider a Marauder in play, except for the NPC's, or PC's really close to madness...
And what do i see? Someone calls me static! Better keep away from your toaster, child. It might bite you. An as far as technotoys go, they're good for gremlins, and not much else. I prefer technology spirits...

A strange felinid creature... Or rather, a humanoid with feline-like mannerisms... pads up to the corner, peering around it with the faintest mewling, owlish eyes refracting as she studies the denizens of this place with intense curiosity. Seeing it was relatively safe, she slinks closer, licking the back of a hand and scrubbing at a bit of dirt on her cheek.

"Miau! Uhm... Hey... most everyone doesn't like me. I have a personality issue." A big grin spreading across her features as she smooths the pair of fox tails over her rump in an axious motion. "See... I'm homeless, without parents or family or anything... But that's alright, because sometimes I'm with House Golo, or take up the pretense of Solificati..."

Shifting her digigrade stance to crouch easily, she stretches with an audible purr, "Sometimes I learn a few things from a Jnanai fellow whom I'm rather fond of, though he thinks I'm far to flighty at times. But most of the time... Well, I just talk to my Owl."

Perhaps deciding she's said to much, she grins, rolling a shoulder and proceeds to groom herself, allowing her makeshift shield to clatter to one side as she stretches more, apparently comfortable wherever she finds herself.

Curling up into a ball, she closes her eyes to mere slits, purring contentedly to herself as she regards her newfound companions. One of the large black feathers tied haphazardly in her hair falls across her nose, the tickling producing a tiny sneeze and a moment of rubbing frenticly at the tip of her nose.

(Ah, pardon my rambling... It just felt fitting to present one of my many personalities. I figure joining clubs may assist me in inspiring more than words from my addled mind. *Salutes*
Greetings and salivations, don't eat all the fish!)
