It actually is how people say, rains practically every day between september and about june. Makes me laugh that every other country you always seems to be known for really spectacular things like the eiffel tower or taj mahal, and Britain is just a little island where it rains all the time.
Whats German weather like, is it normally nice where you are or is it mainly horrid there too?

don't worry, we also know big ben and buckingham palace. oh .. and those funny red men with the big hairy heads
german weather ... that's like speaking of british weather when there is scottish/english/welsh ... etc.
generally speaking: it's more continental, so hotter summers and colder winters than you are used to - at least i remember it that way from before global warming. my part of germany (mountain region southwest of dresden) is a bit different, though. we got a whole year of humidity: 3/4 rain and 1/4 snow, prone to natural desasters like floods and thunderstorms. but the most beautiful place on earth on christmas. snow every year.
i'm living halfway between stuttgart and nuremberg now. it's much warmer here. two weeks ago i turned on the central heating for the first time. it's freaking cold and windy here, but no snow.

Oh I wish it snowed here on christmas, I only remember it snowing on christmas here once and that was at about 11pm so it was practically boxing day anyway. Went for a walk on boxing day up a local hill and took a wrong turn, ended up scrambling up a cliff before we realised we had gone wrong.

"cliff"? as in "coast" and "sea"?
well, that's certainly something i would sacrifice my snow for. *sigh*

Is the german coast not near where you live sorry I have no idea where most places in britain are let alone any other country.
It was actually just a cliff on the hill we ended up on but I do love the sea even though the nearest coast it about 3 hours in the car away, besides being really beautiful its also really fun to do watersports on, I guess thats a benefit of plenty of rain and being an island, wherever you are in england theres generally a lake or the sea nearby, not that it is that much use in winter, you'd get pnumonia at this time of youar, but its a great way to spend the summer. We always go with cadets to the south coast to sail or kayak etc.
Do you like watersports? Or which other sports do you like?

oh well, i though you might live near the sea (cornwall or something). there is a lot of it in GB.
it's a 6-8 hour drive from me to the next saltwater ... which would actually be the mediterranian sea (about an hour faster to get to than to the north sea - because of the well built southward roads).
of course i love swimming, but i'm not into surfing or anything else.

I suppose I do live near the sea compared to most people in the world, really all of britain does compared to mid america or the sahara or somewhere.
I think if i lived on the continent the weirdest thing would be if I had to drive through another country to get to the sea, the only way to get to another country from here is on a plane or a boat. Have you ever done that thing where you stand with one foot in one country and one in anotherbecause that sounds so weird to actually have countrys touching each other. I wouldnt like to live in a land locked country though, i think i would feel trapped, like the countrys around us could cut us off hich would be scarey.

that's hardly possible because there is rarely a strict red line between to nationalities, but a stretch of no-mans-land (5-50 meters).
and within the EU you hardly find borders at all. just a sign next to the road annoucing you entered france, austria, etc. ... doesn't feel different from crossing borders between regions like scottland/england/wales.
at least we feel that way in central europe now. the balkan region may have a different attitude towards frontiers...

Pity, you would need really long legs then to stand in both at once lol.
It snowed today! For like the first time in about 2 years, It was great, but it only lasted about an hour but its got everyone in a really christmassy mood which is great.
U looking forward to christmas then?

oo that sounds fun.
Hoping we might get some more snow, its still staying freezing most of the time but there arent that many clouds for once. Our school are so miseraable though, they made us all stay inside at break and diddnt let us out in the snow.
