Hi!! I featured you in my journal -->Β
Long Time No SeeI've been gone a long time, but have recently come back. I'd like to do a more extensive journal chock full of info on where I've been, & what I've been doing. Alot has changed since I was here last. While I'm getting my head wrapped around the new journal system, enjoy these features.
If you've sent notes to my stock acct, I'll make my way around to that one shortly, & will do your feature for that soon.
DRUMROLL PLEASE - these are some of the most interesting & talented works I've seen since being back on dA in the last 4 wks.

Your work is really fantastic! I was wondering, if you had to boil down your carving tools to one or two key pieces of equipment, what would they be?

Your gallery is absolutely amazing! After all of my pumpkin work over the past few years, I really wanted to get into wood carving. I signed up for a class but it never got enough people to sign up. Maybe some day. You are a great inspiration!

I'm a bit of a novice wordworker. I have 4 canes at home made of dead manzaneta. They are pretty strong but... what wood do you recommend?

Putting beauty of the wood itself aside (which is the #1 thing I choose from) due to it is subjective, pick a wood with straight grain running the length of the cane.

Most people would say Basswood but I've never carved it due to it's boring looking, but if you were going to paint it or color or figure didn't matter it's the one. I have carved Walnut and it's very nice and looks good. Hope it helps good luck!

Your work is incredibly refined... Welcome to deviantart and congrats on your DD... Few people receive one so quickly, but it;s very well deserved. I would love to know which took you use. I'm making a chess set out of wood myself, but confess to knwoing nothing about it so i'm going on instinct *lol*

Did you mean tools? If so I started with a angle grinder with a tungsten carbide structured tooth disk. Then on to Die Grinders, carving chisels, files, and sand paper. I looked at your profile and seen you like 80's music, I just so happened to see Candelbox last Monday and on Saturday I'll be seeing Alice in Chains with Guns n Roses. Traffic sucks but Los Angeles does have it's perks. Thanks for the complements.
