# About me

Karina Wetherbee has been a photographer for 25 years, having undertaken numerous photography assignments throughout her career. Such pursuits have included: representing the National Repertory Orchestra as the Official Photographer on the orchestra’s tour to the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, Korea, as well as other parts of the Pacific Rim; Official Photographer for Concerto Soloists of Philadelphia on a 1989 tour to Europe; and Official Photographer for the 1990 Fitness Convention of IDEA (International Dance and Exercise Association), in Washington, D.C.
Honors and awards include: 2nd place and Honorable Mention– Associated Photographers International (API) contests; three time finalist–Photographer’s Forum Photo contests; and winner in category in a National printing competition with the entry of Photo Brilliance card, “Maple Leaf Rag.” The card was on display at the USA Today building in Rosslyn, Virginia.
Karina has done extensive portrait work for families and individuals, as well as for people seeking official headshots. She is the photographer for the Carpe Diem String Quartet.
Her real passion lies in recording the beauty of her natural surroundings. She has many art prints available for selection.
In addition to her work as a photographer, Karina published her first book in 2004. It is a memoir of her father’s childhood in World War II, The Minefield of Memories. She has had many book signings and the book has been a favorite of book clubs. The book has come to the attention of people in the film industry, where it is being discussed for optioning.

She recently published a second book, 2011, Stella and the Golden Crystal, a fantasy for children.
She is also the General Manager of The Dercum Center for the Arts and Humanities. dercumcenter.org

In her free time, she homeschools her three kids!

You're work is so lovely. So clear and wonderful. I know that amazing expensive camera does a lot, but it takes skill to get the shot and edit. You have great skill.
