I know the feeling.    Slugterra has cured  from a depression.   
And the perfectly animated style of  the show has returned me hope, that the modern NORMAL  cartoons, which are NOT anime,  do still exist.   Because I absolutely HATE anime style!

Well,  his "deadpan" is kind of static  emotion, so it's kind of pointless making an icon out of it, but  I think, I  have a couple of  ideas for the new emoticons.   Hopefully, they will work...

There is a difference to me.
In usual cartoons with normal animation all emotions of the characters are  actually reflected on their faces. (take old Classic Disney for example) The animation is flawless there. You can relate to characters, because they show HUMAN emotions.

In anime cartoons all emotions are either replaced with stupid signs near the characters' temple or are way over the top, if they yell for example. Both ways are absolutely INHUMAN  to me, which drives me absolutely mad!

The emotions in Slugterra show, however, are done SPLENDIDLY.  They are reflected on the characters' faces, thus, you can relate to them. True SOMETIMES, the show has some ASPECTS of anime,  I admit, and sometimes they do go over the top (especially with Pronto), but it doesn't happen ALL THE TIME, like in anime, and those parts look more like a parody on anime to me, this is why they get  a chuckle or a laugh out of me.   

But that's only my opinion after all.  Sorry, if I have offended you in any way.   That was unintentional.

Yeah, I work as well, so I kind of have little time to work on my restorations or stories.    

Anyway, one more difference between the normal cartoons and anime is the fact that all anime characters look absolutely IDENTICAL. All the difference  is the different hair and eye colour, that's it, but  BASICALLY  they all are the same. Same big eyes, same figures, and so on.  they  don't have any UNIQUENESS  in them. They are absolutely PLAIN and FORGETTABLE! 
Disney or Slugterra characters are NOT plain. They ARE unique, they ARE memorable, and you will NEVER mistake  one  character for another. Each  of them has their own personality and design, so you can easily RECOGNIZE them., and if you try to draw them in any other style, than their original one, they BECOME PLAIN , and LOOSE all their charm!   
I have seen some Slugterra fan arts, where the characters were done in anime style, and they looked HORRIBLE to me.

Ah well that depends on who drew them too   I mean I would only draw anyone from Slugterra just for fun to see if it'll look good or not, I mean I totally get it, I mean the one similar thing that keeps coming into my head is in Pokemon, Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny, every single episode one shows up but with a different color on the cross for Nurse Joy and I don't know about Officer Jenny, but yeah      pure terror, lol

I am very happy to hear that you liked my Slugterra arts!    I am doing my best to make them look like screenshots from the show, however I change few things, or usually use several screenshots as references to create one "unique" art.    It's a hard work, but I love it!
